A16 Ultra does not synchronize

Hi.

During the last few years, after turning the A16 off, when switching it on again it took it a long time to synchronize (red lamp over 'master' stays red). Sometimes switching the A16 off and on again helped. I ended up leaving it on constantly.

Yesterday the electricity here was acting up due to works on a pylon, so I switched it off, and now the light remains red.
In the past it sorted itself out after up to an hour, but now it's been quite some time and it's still red.

Did any of you encounter this problem?

Is there any way around this except sending it for repair?

Hi there,

First thing I'd do is double-check the lightpipe connections at both ends. Make sure there's no dust in the sockets or anything, and maybe try wiggling the connections while looking at the front panel to see if that's the problem.

You could also try using the A16 Ultra as clock master instead of slaving it to your ADAT devices.

PS. I just realised that you don't actually say how you're connecting it. If it's via Z-Link, check the Z'link cables!

hi Chris. I connect it using optical cables.
When the cable are out, I can see that there is no light from the OUT ports.
I always used the A16 as master. It's connected to my sound card, and then cubase. no other devices.

I had the same problem and "solved" it by turning it on and off till the master was green again... since I moved my studio to another location, nomore problems... That's why I think this problem is power related... Hope that helps...

After maybe THIRTY on/off/on/off it worked !!!!

two years later! had to disconnect the A16 due to rewiring and changes at the studio and... same problem!
hopefully another 30 on/off will solve this. frustrating!
