Vive la France
Re: Vive la France
Hi next to nothing,
I followed your friendly advice - or was it humorous - and found the following quote:
'ROGER: Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can ‘ni’ at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred.'
So I am confused. The violent knights are the ruffians and this ironic sentence about the passing strangers that also can say ni is pretty straight forward to understand.
But as I said I am the noob or should I say tourist and there is a lot to learn about self moderation on Z.

i don't think anyone has been treated unkindly. there's no need for moderation if no one has broken the rules of the forum. if anyone is insulted by anything said, it's an easy thing to pm the offender. if it's really a bad fight, John would lock the thread and punish the guilty. if it's just differing opinions, variety is the spice of life. it's only when backed with force(police, guns, guns and police, soldiers, knives, economic assaults, etc) that differing opinions become a problem...
isn't this the reason for our words, to cajole and convince to express and communicate?
it's beautiful.

Re: Vive la France
I read your first post about " self proclaimed experts." I think that when a " noob " comes around here for the first time, comments like that some folks find disrespectful.
Perhaps you got off on the wrong foot here by insulting people.
Hopefully you can join in the fun above where we all have a love of music, and enjoy sharing ideas.
Let me give you a proper welcome.............Welcome to PlanetZ.

Re: Vive la France
lugnoor, there is a lot of truth in that quote, but the meaning of it is more dependant on where you put yourself in the comedy than who i say "we" are. and for that matter, its not "us" against "you".
I consider myself a tourist. so should you, GaryB and Xite4live for that matter, and I think they do. WE (including You) are visitors of a place where WE can actually learn stuff, give advice, get the free advice and a free device, and a free debate if WE whish so.
Use this place as a resource to find solutions, offer solutions, promote your music or tips, or even have a disussion about frogs or the middle east for that matter. I bet youd like it if you give it a try. jusy stay within reasonable proportions.
enjoy tthe ride

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

You could let us know how we've hurt you and we'll try not to do it in future

Re: Vive la France
I think perhaps he was in a certain spirit with the first post in this thread and things quickly deviated with responses that were more an illumination of each poster's take on the first post, ignorant of the context in which he meant it and so supplying their own. If ever there was a better example of the 'telephone' game....
In any case I think the posts have been generally in good spirits & not ill-intended, take that from someone who has done his share of patronizing here.

Personally I didn't see anyone as patronizing you, just a lot of people continuing in their usual manner. Never ascribe to malice what can be ascribed to...lugnoor wrote:Very right valis.valis wrote:Self moderated is what I was going to say as well, so if the conditions of this forum strike you in any way it's surely a reflection on us.
Self moderation applies certainly to all involved including myself.
Be assured I will consider to leave this funny and amusing place whenever it gets boring or naff.
Up to now I only sense arrogance and patronizing and that I am the bad boy without humor incapable of understanding the OT rules.

Re: Vive la France
All,
Please allow me to offer my apologies for my part in any misunderstanding, perhaps the language barrier is my own! I certainly missed the significance of the date in relation to the the initial post.
For my part, I prefer to celebrate Bastille Day by cheering for a French rider to win the day's stage in the Tour de France in a breakaway. True to form, three of the 4 breakers were French, but even on a wimpy, partial-protest day, the peloton carried the winner. Fortunately, the supreme battler Thomas Voeckler has already taken a stage for the host country.
avec humilité,
Cory

Please allow me to also apologize about what I think about my own country and say :cortone wrote:Please allow me to offer my apologies

Re: Vive la France
Accepted, by me anyway!
We all have to bear that weight to a greater or lesser degree, based on our respective countries. Certainly my countrymen and I bear a larger weight than most, in both good and ill works.

Re: Vive la France
A waste!
Such a big waste it is to remember that some countries are celebrating friendship and people still and that they live in hope of a change somehow...

Re: Vive la France
Or is it another part of our species??
Hoping when there is no hope.
Justifiying the fact people want to have children when you definitively don't know what the world will offer to them?
