.oxe and Vista
Hi all, since I do not succeed in using my Orbitone syn chrome (system says that a dsp file is missing), I tried to reinstall it using the oxe file, but Vista tells me that there are not available program to open it.
Anyone of you did manage to do it? How?
Thanks. Marcello

Re: .oxe and Vista
Pop the .oxe file in the OXE folder in the scope install directory and then re-start Scope. The file should automatically run and extract the necessary files.
No mechanism currently to do this in V5 however.

Re: .oxe and Vista
There is no folder or mechanism to do this currently in V5 - it is a release candidate only.
If you don't have access to the old DSP folder in 4.5 you're a bit stuck unless someone can get these files to you. You could re-install 4.5, run the OXE and then roll the drivers back I suppose - you could then get to the necessary files and move them into the v5 environment - remeber to remove the startup entry for Scope 4 (use msconfig) when you go back to v5 drivers or you'll get errors.
Soz.

i would add, don't move any dsp files, just move the preset and device files. if Scope asks for missing dsp files, when opening the device, then move the dsp file.

Re: .oxe and Vista
Thanks I understand it, but unfortunately I do not find any dsp file in the relative directory of my old v4.5. So I would have asked to someone, that have it already installed, if he could send me these files to me. But I expect not to find anyone... Furthermore I do not have any win XP installation so I can not do the job by myself.
Thanks anyway. Marcello

Astroman, I thought that no one had that instrument... The software was requesting a different dsp file, anyway I will try tonight and maybe come back to you.
Thanks a lot for this. Cheers.

Re: .oxe and Vista
yes, the software will ask for the alias name of the DSP file, but it means the 'cryptic' thing.
the dsp.idx file holds the translation between the two names.
If it says 'file some_blabla.dsp is missing', it may really mean bla123.dsp
that's why people often complain '...but there is no some_blabla in the DSP folder...'
cheers, Tom

Re: .oxe and Vista
just email the maker, or Ralf if it's a device in the S/C shop. most of the 3rd party developers are very nice and helpful and S/C won't refuse you either if they can help.
