V5 install problem- then more problems... :/

Post by eliam »

Well, well, in my eagerness to try the new plugins I took the plunge and tried to install scope 5... A dumb move it seems...

When feeding the installer with my new keyfile it just refused the new keys, saying "key import failed"...

hmmm

So, I tried to revert back to the old drivers, uninstalled V5 and all, and 1 of my 6 dsp boards won't be satisfied with the good ol 4.5 driver and requests a scPci wdm driver, which is associated to scope 5... And SFP won't work without this card, not sure why...

I physically removed the card, rebooted, turned-off, put the card back, rebooted, same thing... It won't install. So I'm here between 2 chairs, with no access to my scope cards... That'S frustrating.

I wrote SC to tell them about the problem, I hope to have a fix ASAP...

Now if anyone has an idea on how I can get it working the old way, please let me know...

Thanks

i would try :
-un-install scope 5 and remove cards from device manager, reboot,
install back 4.5 and manually install cards -driver back in device manager,

did you send scope.rgy, where you had all keys installed ?
first i send wrong allkeys.sfk and a lot of devices where missing there, cause
a lot were installed manually after last allkeys.sfk was created,
so all information with keys for all plugins was in scope.rgy

just a guess.....

Thanks for the input, yes I tried all this, but when I try to re-install the board it wants a wdm driver from the V5 location (which has been deleted) and the installation fails...

yes, but what if you try to re-locate (browse) to sfp 4.5/driver folder and add from there ?

Actually this happens after I've specified the 4.5 driver's location, while the drivers are being installed.

I recommend turning OFF 4.5 before installation of V5.
Then rename the 4.5 folder to something else (i.e. Scope4.5_backup)

I also highly recommend burning an image of your system prior to installation.

It is called a release candidate for a reason
You are betatesting and expecting a finnished software? That is not very clever.

I communicated with SC who sent me 2 more "activation keys" (for a total of 3), all of which were rejected by the installer...

I managed to revert to 4.5 thanks to my scope folder backup.

Am I the only one having this ("import of key file failed!") problem?

You aren't trying to install v5 to scope 4.5 folder by any chance?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
