That´s some strange conclusions you have come to, Dante..
I have seen no claim about Xite1 sounding better than old Scope-cards.
The point is it´s POWER !!
What kind of set-up of mixers, effects, synths, amount of voices etc. to be able to use
is multiplied by a factor of around ten(10) in Xite1.

Well I just got a new upgrade for VDAT which I what I use for recording.
SC is still working on some minor issues.
I couldn't even load VDAT before it would crash the app.
Now I can load and will keep messing around and try different tricks.
I was trying to create aiff. ( Mac ) files on a PC at first...................duhh!!..
Actually XITE-1 does sound better. I have no idea why, it could be another example of high quality I/O's like the mic pre's and switchable XLR/TRS combos. I remember wanting just decent mic pres but these are indistinguisable from my FMR 8380's w/ a Heil PR40.

Sounds plausible, and the new DSPs may affect the sound as well..good for you Xiters !

These guys are bustin' their balls and I have all the faith in the world.
Besides
I learned to record audio on a VST sequencer as a result of this, and now I want VDAT even more..........

Zangsta - I didnt mean that by automatically loading an old scope pci project into a scope5 xite setup that it would automatically come out sounding better - maybe it will or maybe it wont - but not my point.

More generally, if spending more money on gear doesnt somewhere along to line equate to better production then to me, something is really missing from the equation.

I understand that it could also speed up workflow, but to me this isnt the point either. For example, I can make up for my lack of DSP by rendering some tracks to audio. I only have 12 DSP's - but by multitracking can have a production where 18 DSP worth of devices were used. Now if I had 18DSP to begin with, this would take much less time.

Put it this way - Im not going to buy XITE just because it halves the time it takes for me to produce the same quality track Im producing now. Im gonna buy it because - in the end - somewhere along the line - I will make better sounding tracks with it. As the end *result* - of - the added flexibility / power....

And regards XITE-4/LIVE's point regards the high quality I/O's - well how about posting some recordings done though these I/Os ?

I mean, heres what I consider to be THE most revolutionary audio device ON THE PLANET and HEY - I wanna HEAR it !!!

When I am ready, I will post something.
I bought this because of live performance needs.
I actually was getting by just fine with a Scope Pro for doing demos last winter, so I agree totally.
When I get VDAT working I will record. Simple as that.
I can hardly record audio with any other app even though I try.
I am an old fashioned ADAT / 2 Track guy, and to post a half assed track just so someone can make a judgement on a converted mp3 is not for me to do.
I do things a certain way, so I'll just keep making MIDI drum tracks & tempo scores with Reaper & SpuBase until VDAT's revived.
Out of dozens of benchs and 90 some odd devices I am checking out, only having VDAT acting funky is really trivial.
I am doing my first live gig tomorrow with it.
I could record my B2003 / Rhodes / Piano stuff I suppose, but then you'd be deprived of those nifty quantized drum tracks....

Well your name XITE-4LIVE says it all. A good reason to buy is the rackmountability of XITE. But if this was the only demand then they couldve just released a powerpulsar in a box for a fraction of the price and be done with it. Look forward to some tracks from this beast anyway.

SpuBase....LOL Im still larfin at this..... - what do you call Sonar - not Bonar I assume.....I used to refer to Illogic

Yeah Brotha'....
YamaBerg's SpuBase & CakeLand's Bonar.......
I think the rack is an attempt to expand the DSP platform for years to come.
Eventually CPU's will overcome the advantage, but I can't see them having more power than a rack like this for at least a couple years.
I always liked the reliablity of DSP's and using the CPU at a much lower level which allows them a longer lifespan.

I doubt this would happen but assume they don't sell hundreds of XITE-1's. Hey just put less chips on an internal card for cheaper and move the remaining stock on PCI-e cards.
I also think within a year or two the XITE-1 will be the ultimate multi channel 5.1 96k reverb.
That is insane thinking that one night you can record with it as if it were a Lexicon 960L in 5.1 with a virtual LARC, and the next night a 16 voice Solaris, B2003, live streamer that provides wireless IEM's for an entire band.
We havent even scratched the surface of this power IMHO.
Some wise hot shot developer is sure to see the power and potential profit of such devices.
A Lexicon Surround hardware reverb goes for 3 large.
The Bricasti Model 7 goes for 4.............
Fair prices actually, but try getting them to do a B3 or synth......

I shall go mourn as I wait for VDAT.

Thanks for your report Jimmy, VDAT is probably one of SC's most remarkable applications and I shall watch your testings with it very closely :)
let's go SC!

I cant see how this device wouldnt put the whole industry on its ear - rack mount gear, studio mixers, the whole lot comes under the gun with this chameleon pretending it can be any or all of them at once. All thats left is control surfaces really.

Just finished my first gig w/ XITE-1... :D
Easy gig really, just lots of old Doors and Allman Brothers stuff.
I used the B2003 all night and had tons of fun and free booze.
These gigs are actually fun as there's no pressure, and the pay is really low.
Perfect place for breaking in the XITE-1.
During a break I even found the request I made for the STW presets on the preset thread.
Little corrections like this that my install missed really helped me and definately has helped the SC team, as they are only humans too.

Thanks Again SC, and thanks mpodrug my Brotha; From Anotha Mutha for the pres.
I only need the STW Chorus/Delay to work from an insert when selecting presets now.
What a great sounding Chorus though. I usually have to bump up the wet/dry mix of a chorus plug, but with this one it's so powerful and clean I actually had to cut the wet/dry amount. Just in time for the last set too..............

Dante's calling us OUT guys. :)
Geez, Xite hasn't even arrived everywhere yet, and they wanna hear stuff. :P

Well, Xite DOES have improved mic-pres obviously, and some new drivers, so perhaps there's some improvement there that enhance overall sound quality
