This song is kinda goa/trance/breaks/... listen and make up for yourself

Loops created by magnedrome in Reason (w fx) and AudioMulch. Exported to Cubase, for routing to Pulsar. Used following Pulsar devices:
-MicroMixer
-Lots of Multi Fx for these inserts;
-SpaceF: Hi&Low6, Pro-Q
-Sonic Timeworks: Vintage EQ's, Mastering Compressors
-WS Design: Exciter 0.9
-PT Reverb,
...

We still have all original material, going to adjust that again cos we've worked with loops (bad transitions). If anyone has suggestions or remarks, don't hesitate to post.

The tune sounds great right away. The drums sounds powerfull, synths are mildly tough, there's depth in mixing. Just one problem tho.. seems many of the synths are stashed in the middle. Maybe some can be stereo spread, chorused, or simply panned so it spreads out more. The intro pattern sounds great! The different layers of beats interact very well!

One trick that might help:
Try to lenghten the ends of phrases to mask the bad transitions. An extra echo or just a plain fade out can do the trick.

Eq'ing might help you to homogenise the drums. Different eq settings for the various loops...

This is an interesting track. I quite like it.
Sounds like your not afraid to experiment, although something feels missing in the left side of the mix, sort off feeling you get when you've connected your speakers out of phase, or when you've got the phase compenation in on the mixer when it isn't needed.
Could just be me on the otherhand!

Thanks guys, this will get me going for a day or two  I'm redoing the song now, trying to get some controlled remote in it as well, as the posted mp3 is a bit tweaked on the fly.

hey atomic,

i don't really like trance anything...but this has a great and classic feel, very orbitalesqe. and i've allways loved what orbital has done over the years.

i love your use of phasing (or is it flanging, i get the two mixed up a lot) throughout the track. using anything or 3 in particular? i'm speaking mainly of that drum loop sort of thing in the begining getting a heavy dose of it.

best.

Hi,

Once more, I've updated the song, [edit] but I've removed the update. It was a rough mix, without mastering or channel EQ's. The song is always improving, I'm putting quite some time in this edit, as did magnedrome zeynitrium@yahoo.com in composing the loops.

I hope you like it. I replaced the original phaser by Neutron7's Rhino, it's a fun machine. This song is cool, normally I get bored by the time I have to finish the song, and start a new one. Not this time!

Enjoy it. Any comments are appreciated. Hubird, I think you'll get an idea now on where I wanna go with this song.

Hi Atom,
Where you wanne go with this song you say?
Well it's in the titel I guess
I think you refer to my appeal for final mixes, but don't worry, this is pretty mutch acceptable for me
I knew that I had to listen to this song later again, so this declares my late reaction
I like it! Simple as that!
There was something strange in it for me, had to do with the combination of two different style elements or influences you could have.
I think I now know already.
There is obvious trance in it, specially in the sound and in the low synth.
BTW great silky faser sound, good use of it with fx send I guess, making lifeness in mix.
But there's also something of the electronic popmusic of the eighties, isn't it?
The sound and also the ridm pattern of the drums, with the typical gated reverb snare, the harmonic 'progressions' (as our confusioned collegues on planetz would say  ), the streight 16th arpeggios, the synth sounds used, specially the melodic high one, etc.
I say names as Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, New Order, etc.
Now I have a better grip of the song and the way I feel with it.

I like the arrangement, there are a few cheeky (is the word?) moments like the one with heavy cutting suggestion and others.
This arrangement keeps you going, and that's what it should do.
One thing: I like the long break in the mid part, but it could be good to add the beat halfway, but than heavily filterd with a low cut res filter.
(Wasn't it you who mentioned somewhere the North Pole VST plugin?)
That way you have beat without having a full beat, IYKWIM.

Anyway, it's a nice song, and indeed it deserves a final mix, with fucking good mastering, with the S1 from Waves, and right up to zero db.

About the update: I don't understand anything of this, it gives me doubts about where you wanted to go...
No serious, I don't understand what the meaning of it is, it's quite different of the 'original'.
Anyway, I go for this one!

the first two versions aren't really my cup of tea, but i liked it though. it reminded me somehow of the first autechre albums. imo, the second version had a better sound in general, except for the kicks, which seem snappier to me in the original. (could it be i detected some clicks in there?)
but then, version number three... it was suprising, fresh, smart, cheesy with a
only remark: i would have kept the middle part shorter. another break at about 2:45 or 3:00 would have kept it exiting. why not break down the tempo again. express yourself! let it all out! free your mind!!!
the rating is for number three

Well well, the atom did it,

he got me listening over and over again, this tune has a GREAT potential, imho. But my favorite is the first version, don't know why but sounds most natural to me, and I just wanna say : GREAT job and keep on ...

As most of you may understand, we (magne and myself) do not appreciate this song appearing on other places online. Please, if you want to do so, create a link to my webspace.

Can you take it off please? thanks.

Mails didn't help, z did
Not much logic in 'removing my name from title but mentioning it later to the downloader', but ok.

Cheers mate!
