(yeah, it'll be fixed sooner or later) I thought I'd post an update cuz a lot of Pulsarian comments went into this one.

The melody bases around a quintatonic modal scale, you can tell I've been doing too much chinese flute lately. The idea was to make a melody in 1/2 time (so 8ths would be the smallest resolution, as opposed to 16th) and then do some groove polishing on that so it fits in better with the drum/bass grove. It's a new idea that I'm testing out.. and so far, it seems ok. A little on the cheesy side, but it brings out a certain asian taste while keeping with funk grooves. Actually, it worked out much better than I'd expected. (I thought it would sound like a folk song)

Oh well, it needs some harmony brush ups and I still need to work on the second time around.

MUCH better! Nice to hear the famous singer at last. What is the recording environment for her? (She's a little off pitch)

naa we just did a quick recording so she could remember the melody line. So lead's just there as a memo. We'll do the harmonies for the second verse later, and then redo the lead. But there are some off people in this verse too that needs re-taking.

yup, she's aiming for r&b alright. I'm really getting to know her voice and the more melody I write for her, the more it fits her voice. It's like learning an instrument.

I'm just using a shure beta 58A and focusrite vocalmaster combo plus a little eq.
