Whats the diff between ASIO, ASIO1 and ASIO2 ?

Post by dante »

Anyone know ? In scope project layout, double clicking on the ASIO2 Source component shows IN's as well as OUT's - if its a source, it should only have OUT's shouldnt it ?

asio2 transmits clock, among other things.

the asio2 modules require one of the asio2 sources and the asio2 dest(the same dest regardless of bit depth) and the source module sets ins and outs.

the asio(or asio1) modules each have a different mate and the source and dest modules each have a menu.

use what you like, i suggest asio2 24bit.

ok thanx guys I shoulda searched the site first to pick up those topics - - anyway the reason I was asking is that now that I have 1 pulsar + 2 lunas connected via a single STDM, I always get STDM connection limit error before I reach my 12 DSP limit.

I noticed that the problem was less when using ASIO 24 bit than ASIO(2) 24 bit. I guess ASIO2 needs more STDM bandwidth than ASIO when resolving cross card connections.

true..

when so few dsps are spread across 3 cards, it makes for a lot of connections, too....
