Post by fraz »

Hi,

Just looking at getting everything as organised as possible but the amount of cables need good organization - What do you folks here do to keep them all in order?

cable loom and velcro ties, although i have a HELL of a lot of wire just running along walls, etc. don't make me think about it....

if it's cable storage that's the problem, the most important thing is the way you wrap them. i use the "over-under" method and a velcro tie. even not tied, cables wrapped this way won't tangle. there are some cables that i use a lot that are on hooks, the rest are in drawers and a road case.

Velcro ties, cable loom, and if you've got stuff near the wall I find that hanging hooks helps separate audio/power/data/etc quite tidily. Also for all those smaller cables (usb/certain midi etc) I will use the twist-ties that come with so many things these days (small plastic-coated bits of wire, which are nonconductive and much longer lasting than the grocery-store type of twist tie.) I find those so invaluable that I have a small container I stuff them in whenever I unwrap something new. I wouldn't use them on expensive cabling (that's what the velcro ties are for).
