When I installed the Intel ATA Storage Drivers(any version) I do not see the DMA check box but when it is not installed the check box is there. I did not reinstall it in order to have that option. DMA is enabled.
Any version of the Intel 815 Chipset drivers I use the same thing happens. The problem comes up more often as the amount of tracks increase. One or two tracks plays fine but as I record more there is this thing.

I have reinstalled the ATA storage drivers version 6.20, loaded 8 wave tracks, let the system play for about 30 minutes nonstop,no problem but I have lost the DMA check box.

You don't NEED the DMA-checkbox when you have the ATA storage drivers installed, as those drivers automatically enables DMA.
In Start->Programs->Intel ATA... you have a program (called "Companion" or something like that) where you can check the status of the drivers and DMA modes.

BTW the DMA checkbox not showing is like, in the readme file for the IAA drivers, that's how we learned it ourselves...
