chaning the order of the cards+pci overflow!!

Post by the19thbear »

ok. so i have 3 cards in my pc.
1x3 dsp card.
1x4 dsp card ( pulsar 1) ( just bought this... and i think its causing the problems, because everything worked fine..)
1x6 dsp card (pulsar2)

i want the 6 dsp card to be the first one since it has the most dsp's. so i put it in the first slot.
the i have the 4 dsp as the second and then the 3 dsp card as the 3rd.

No matter how i edit the cset.ini file, the 4 dsp card show up first in the list of cards in the sfp-dsp load-window.
i can have low latency ( down to 3 ms) so i dont really get it. shouldnt the dsp usage bar show what card is the first? and if the old 4 dsp card is the first, then i should be able to have less than 24 ms?? right??

-well it works fine in normal sfp mode. but it looks wrong!?

but in XTC mode, the 4 dsp card definetely is the first! i get an error message saying that i have to delete my initblksize 256 value form my cset.ini, because the 4 dsp card doesnt support this.
But no matter how i edit the cset.ini file i cannot get the 6 dsp board to be the host board in xtc mode..

SO:
Does the order of the cards, that is shown in the dsp usage bare, show the order of the cards in real life?
How do i make my 6 dsp card my host card, both in xtc and sfp mode?
How do i tweak my PC so i dont get the PCI master overflow error, in xtc mode? (everything worked fine, until i, for a couple of weeks ago, bought an old 4 dsp card, and put in in my pc)

thanks!!

there's probably a quicker way to do this, like trashing the cset.ini(backup first!), but this should be effective and better on a whole lot of levels.

shut down.
remove all the cards.
restart the machine.
shut down.
put in the 6 dsp card(in the slot that you are using closest to the video card).
restart.
shut down.
put in the final cards.
restart.

everything should be in order.

so what do i write exactly under the "host" letters??
thanks to both of you! i will be doing garyb's thing first, and then if all fails try to edit the cset.ini again

hmm.. neither of the solutions worked.. Is seems like the old card is forced to be the first one.. annoying!
well.. .i'm seeing if i can swap it with a luna/3dsp card instead..

that should work. it's all in the cset file. you can always remove the cards and uninstall the software after backing up the device, dsp, vxd, preset, project and dll files. after the reinstall you can overwrite with the old files and your old stuff should be back. of course, nuking the system like that is a last resort....

already nuked it. did a fresh install of xp. inserted the 6 dsp and 3 dsp card. installed scope.
everything worked fine. inserted the pulsar1= the scope menu showed, all of the sudden that the pulsar1 was the 1st card. and xtc wont load without using 24ms latency.. :(
Making me sick!!
i'm going to give it one last go with the cset.ini, otherwise the card has got to go. I already put a thread in "scope purchasing" about wanting to trade a pulsar1 for a luna card.
Poooooh i tell you! pooh! to the bone!

I had good luck with the [board0]... trick (thank you stardust, gary, etc) :)
