gigabyte p35-ds3r

Post by luigicampala »

I just want to post my latest experiences with the gigabyte p35-ds3r mobo running with 3 pulsar2 boards.
I used to have clicks and crackling stuff when using the asio driver with several hosts (ableton, reaper, samplitude) and couldn´t figure out why.
After disabling redundant usb-port sharing the irqs with the pulsars it became better, but still a random clickling remained.
Then, " by chance", the network hard-disc drive (some TREKSTOR NDAS-Device, connected via LAN), i was using for data sharing in my home network, text-files but no audio-files, went broke after a double power breakdown here in the house.
Bad luck on the one hand, but on the other:
NO MORE PROBLEMS with clicks and crackling!
I think the reason is, that the lan port is sharing a pulsar-boards irq and somehow, as the network-drive appears as an ordinary harddisc, interfered with the pulsar.
So now I am rather happy with the board (14 Masterverbs at the MV-Test and maximum of 9µs at the DPC latency-checker)
....at last :D

Proven technology, cheaper prices.
Thanks to Intel's push for the i7 adopters.

Maybe is a a DPC latency problem.
A lot of Gigabyte mobo's have that problem and Gigabyte fixed it with new bios after our protest.

Read the (long!) post but in the page that i link there's another issue called "PCI Express x1 Bug" that also can cause clicks and pops.
