Hi everybody
I have some problems using git rig 3 on my pulsar 1 (4dsp)sound card.
Actually I can't go down 25 ms length and this is fine when using Cubase or other programs
even stand alone software. But with the git rig 3 it's impossible to play the guitar-what a mess!
am I missing something or it's a card problem!
I use SFP 3.1c
In SFP, go to the live bar and select the settings tab, there you can set the ULLI accordingly (you will see it is at 25ms here). I hope it is the right path, as I haven't done this in a while and the scope computer is not in use at the moment.
Point is, you have to set this in SFP.
guitar rig is a cpu resource hog. if you have a slower computer, or a big project in the sequencer, it's very possible that you run out of resources at low latencies. guitar rig is a very poor live performance device, unless it's the only app running. if you are using the wave driver in stand alone, i'm not surprised that 25ms is the shortest latency available....
I agree with Gary - you have to use the hires-switch in GR (top right of the screen), otherwise it's a very harsh tone. But this is driving CPU load even further up.
Anyway, even at 13 ms (lowest setting) it's rather annoying.
The signal has an enter-process-leave cycle, so effectively you end with a 26 ms absolute minimum - imho way too much for a 'live' played string instrument.
I've a Pulsar One myself (used it with GR etc) - all the other cards (3,6,14 DSP) work much better in this context.
You may add a cheap 3 DSP card to your system, that will allow the lowest latency and give you some more DSPs...
or rather buy the Dynatube Bundle for the Pulsar - this will not only give you NO LATENCY at all, but also a much better guitar tone. Seriously. I've tried them all on the VST side ...
yes, the dynatube is practically a real amp. it doesn't have fancy effects, but luckily Scope does. you can also use your pedals with it, which is very cool...
I havent used Guitar Rig, but Dynatube rocks. You might need more DSP though depending on what else you've got running on 4 DSP. I tend to record guitar in stereo so use 2 Dynatube ( JM Marshall ) which needs 2 - 3 DSP in total. But you can get away with 1 if you're happy to record in mono, or double track.
Its just my DIGITECH 2120 has some great stereo effects....
