Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
please write more about your setup
any digital outboard? what card/computer OS etc..

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
*input is from apogee mini-me works fine with sfp mode.
*open the xtcproject.pro from C:\app\xtcapp
* lick xtc mode, save as default, save as startup, and exit, open sonar_6
now if i play anything, i heard a continuous clock problem noise with it. tic tic tic....
**but everything is normal if i switch to sfp mode !! there must be something ... very simple mistake somewhere..

please post a picture of your xtc project

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
Just save, don't "save as default/startup".

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
Try this:
open up the xtc project in normal sfp mode.
open live/cubase/logic etc.
playbakc/record stuff..
do you still get the error?and pelase post a picture of your xtc project.

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
thanks to both of you... im still trying different things that you said.
ok i think xtcproject.pro from C:\app\xtcapp has its clock default to MASTER. so everytime i switch to spdif and save, exit open sonar, it(xtcproject.pro) actually says as master.
so is there a way to change samplerate settings when im on xtc mode. i mean i had to exit so i cant find how to change
how did you guys do that??
btw playback is fine. but there might be something different xtc plugs vs sfp plugs!!

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
Well, clock settings are usually saved with the project. I think I remember having XTC synced via word-clock (sync plate), but maybe this is one of XTCs quirks, not being able to sync to SPDIF?
The ASIO control panel is not being helpful.

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
yes i guess this is the reason. @19thbear how do you rec? via analog?voidar wrote: I think I remember having XTC synced via word-clock (sync plate), but maybe this is one of XTCs quirks, not being able to sync to SPDIF?

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
Well , look here :
http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=24694
It's a well know problem , Sonar (every version) can not sync to external clock in XTC mode set as SLAVE.
I've try to solve the problem buyng a Sync Plate and a cheap clock generator (ART SyncGen) but i can not
fix it!
I've contact the Cakewalk support and they are still investigating , in the last mail they are waiting a Scope
board from Sonic Core to recreate the problem in their labs and try to fix it...maybe in 2020!
Try Reaper and Samplitude and they lock correctly to external syncs (S-Pdif/World Clock) with no clicks at
all, maybe it's a bad development of Sonar ASIO's (Cakewalk it's really outdated on that field).
REPEAT : the problem appears only in XTC mode , using SCOPE native you can lock with no problems when
you set SCOPE as "slave" from S/Pdif or even from sync plate.

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
This is a sum of the mails send to me by Willy Jones from Cakewalk's support about
the problem with Sonar and SCOPE in XTC mode :
We have set-up the card and got it running. What does not make any
sense to us is why the card will sync to an external source just fine
when it's not in XTC mode but in XTC mode sync is a nightmare. Please
keep in mind none of these are not "well known problems" to us this is
the first we have heard of these and Sonic Core hasn't provided us with
any debugging info.
From a SONAR standpoint we can't see anything that is going wrong (again
we don't have any debug info for the SCOPE driver). We are going to
continue to investigate and pursue this issue but it most likely will
not be fixed in SONAR 8 (assuming it is a SONAR problem even). I do
understand your frustration in this matter but currently there does not
appear to be anything we can change in SONAR, especially at the risk of
breaking functionality for the thousands of devices that do work
correctly when clocked externally.
Re: your other concern "If you bybass the Scope XTC/VST effect the
timing turn back to right"
- - this is a symptom of the VST plug not reporting any internal delay
comp accurately. We have seen and debugged this with other companies
plug-ins and they were able to fix it by updating the plug-in. I will
test this with a few more plugs as well once I get a new software key
from Ralf as well as in another computer/hardware configuration.
I know this isn't the answer you we're hoping for but its an honest
assesment of the current status. I recall in that forum thread you sent
me a while back that there some work-arounds for this, do any of those
apply to your workflow?
......
FYI - it's not the only one. We can repro sample inaccuracies with that
card clocked externally on debug 'dummy' platforms as well.
This will be impossible to fix without debug info from Sonic Core,
ultimately the fix will likely still need to occur on their end as there
is nothing we can change in SONAR to make their driver sync correctly to
an external source.
We're still investigating this some more but for either one of us, this
will be far from "not so hard to fix".
I was also able to get slightly better performance out of SONAR by
switching the synchronization method in the Options | Audio | Advanced
dialog as well. If you're on full chase lock now, try using trigger &
freewheel. If not switch to full chase lock.

Re: my 2nd attempt with xtc
I use an Apogee Mini Me with REAPER in XTC-mode.
While it works mostly fine most of the time, it does fall out of sync after a while (hours). Then I would need to restart the restart the host/driver. So this might actually be a driver bug.
