Cubase & Pulsar : Enough for a professional Studio?
Actually I think that the Bjork album was only written on a laptop - using Logic I think though I couldn't be 100%. The final album has got input from lots of other sources - A choir, a harpist and Matmos.
If you like the Bjork album I would heartily recomend checking out Matmos as well (very different sound but you can see which bits are theirs..)

Hello Eurocide,
Is money what drives you? I listen to trance not the american crap house trance but the real stuff. Every CD I buy, beg borrow or steal comes from England and on indie lables. If you sign to a major label you suck... but that is just my opinion. Does anyone here still listen to the radio?

in the america's we have very interesting college and community radio stations.
commercial radio does suck, yes...i don't think anyone will tell you it doesn't (folks in their right mind at least, or who have half an opinion about music)....there are a few ok commercial stations where i am - a blues, grass roots, and folk one, though its getting more and more alt rock (bleh). and 2 oldies stations. old oldies, and 60-80's rock, some prog rock (good).

Okay there are maybe one or two good college radio stations in the states but 98% of the college radio stations mainly just play what is on the CMJ charts (College Music Journal), don't expect anything great to come out of there. We have a so called "alternative" radio station here named WHFS which is the same format all day and night. They have a list of what music the DJ is allowed to play and he or she is never allowed to play anything that isn't on the list and it's all that alternative garbage. I loath alternative music. They don't use synthesizers.
DOWN WITH GUITARS AND VOCALS!

Hi Braincell,
I am an underground musician down to the deepest corners of my heart! I don't even listen to radio stations and the new VNV-Nation is far beyond the good albums they made before.
My intention with this "major deal Stuff" was to say, that you can get professional productions just with softsynths. And major labels don't deal with semiprofessional sound.
I would never kick off my outboard synths!
But it is possible just to work with pulsar alone in the professional way (with a lot of tweaking and experience of course).

i too was once, "indie this, indie that"....no sappy vocals, or stupid guitar riffs.
i'm over that bit of pretension though.
no offense.
now i just enjoy music, whatever it may be...i don't enjoy very much (enya's song from lotr's is nice) POPULAR music however. it mostly amuses me and makes me gag. its sort of like a lot of bad television.
what the fug kind of name of a song is "inside yer clothes"?
god, she sounds like some banshee...ack!
now i still have an affinity for tori amos, ani difranco, coceteu twins, lots of progressive rock, although tori and ani's music tends to be WAAAY to personal and reflective for my tastes.
listening to too much electronic music leaves me feeling empty. although i have come to like that emptiness, at times.
it just takes time, the world is a very musically diverse place...people should explore it.

i totally agree, good music can use the human voice and a plucked instrument too good effect as well. i like when they are used as a part of the whole, not the base, with some background music that takes a backstage to the vocalist.good music comes from all quarters, even those we don't like.crap is universal as well, even on indie labels.

Hi kensuguru! Nice of u to greet 'lil me!
As far as Production goes 80% of all the big production labels uses mac/logic/tdm .
The best thing about it is that I can use all the well known FX (auto-tune,waves,focusrite ect...) This is where Pulsar suxs. Their bad mac driver reputation makes it impossible to find Pulsar in the larger studios. So, that's why antares, waves, TC and many more companies ignores CW cards. They see it as they qoule loose money. Anyway, the TC powercore is getting lotsa support (mac friendly) and by using motorola DSP they also attract TDM developers.
I hope u guys understand me.
Someone said earlier in this thread "HIT ME"... well can u use over 30 auto-tunes ?

According to the developers I've talked to, the main reason for supporting PowerCore is because of it's strong copyprotection and encryption system...On 2002-04-17 12:12, Air_PoLLo wrote:

I haven't seen this in years. It's dependant on the quality of your motherboard/chipset. Use less Reverbs, Delays or PCI-bus using devices if you have a poor chipset and you should also hardly ever see it.

i will see if they make their software more stable this time at Apr.24
if they correct everything, there shoud be no problem.
and one very important thing, the update better work with V3.01's and V2.04's
no more ..... aaa go back to work with your V2....aaa use it with the second boot....aaa use it with the other PC.
