new to scope need help please!!
Hello.. I'm new to scope. I have only few questions so here they are:
1. I want to use only in XTC. The scope card I have is very limited in its I/O. I have a soundcard that I want to use but do not know how to set up the scope to be able to do this.
2. Why is there no chang/remove for scope software option in the control panel of windows. I want to do a re install because under windows programs there is a un install option but no program to execute it. This leaves me to believe that I have not installed correctley.
Any help would be nice. Thanks

Don't use XTC......it's crap--you're missing out on the flexible routing options in Scope

Are you talking about using another soundcard in combination with Scope? What sound card is it? I agree with the others, the routing window is MUCH more flexible than XTC but it all depends on how you want to work. And I don't know if you CAN use Scope in combination with say, an M-Audio card, the way you can use the Universal Audio card to add just VST effects. If that is the case, by all means use the routing window - at first you'll find it a bit tricky but I guarantee that you'll find the routing window very powerful and easy to use. I'd NEVER want to go back to using the old style audio card interfaces.
2. Why is there no chang/remove for scope software option in the control panel of windows. I want to do a re install because under windows programs there is a un install option but no program to execute it. This leaves me to believe that I have not installed correctley.
I noticed that too. I put my scope card in an 'interim' machine over the holidays. And now that it's in the new computer, this PC I'm typing on now, will forevermore popup the messages that it can't find the scope hardware, when it boots up. I have no idea how to remove the scope software, and would appreciate if someone piped up. Most people don't notice this though because why would you ever want to uninstall scope?

First things first: to use Scope in XTC mode you have to use Scope's ASIO driver - you can't use any other. Your system will enter XTC mode if and only if you start your sequencer app without previously starting SFP while using Scope's driver. What this means is that you're still limited to the I/Os of your scope card but you'll be able to use Scope devices as vst inserts.
But even before you can do that, you should edit your XTCproject in order to set up the correct inputs and outputs. One very useful thread is this one: http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=16634 It's what got me going when I was first trying to use XTC. It's really nothing like UAD or PowerCore cards.
What the other guys are saying is true: it's probably much better to use SFP alongside you sequencer. If your audiocard has ADAT I/O, you can use them to create send and return paths for audio between the sequencer and SFP, if it doesn't have ADAT but multiple analogue I/Os, you can set aside a couple of channels and use Scope's analogue I/O and create a strereo bus - limited, in a way, but quite useful anyway. This is the most flexible routing you'll get, and it enables you to take full advantage of your other soundcard's capabilities.
This is the orthodox way. However, Z Planet has some clever people who just won't let go, and someone has come up with a way to actually use a Scope card as a DSP accelerator in XTC, though I never personally tried it. Check this thread: http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?t=23331
I hope this helps you to get your system up and running. Do search the forum for further information (YOU'LL NEED IT), there's a lot of wisdom in the archives since everyone was a newbie at some point in time, and most of the questions were already asked and answered.
And welcome to Scope!
Cheers,
T

Re: new to scope need help please!!
I am from the UAD school and thought that the DSP card can be just that. I see that there is no choice I will have to make due. This not my main PC for audio I have a dedicated one for that. This PC is just for VST synths and samplers. I will have too look into this platform a little more closely. As for the unistall option that is screwed up it says there is no program associated with that command.

Well 'making do' in this case gives you more flexibility than any other platform - so quite a good compromisejcaldwe1 wrote:I am from the UAD school and thought that the DSP card can be just that. I see that there is no choice I will have to make due.

Re: new to scope need help please!!
What other soundcard are you trying to use? If it has a digital in, you might be able to plug the scope into it and use the Scope softsynths and samplers that way (and of course, apply effects and such to these). I.e. if you don't want to use the scope cards ASIO driver, you can still use it as a highly configurable softsynth / effects box with digital ins and outs.

Re: new to scope need help please!!
If the card is removed from your machine, is it possible to uninstall the drivers? When I try to, all I get is the message, "Hardware version 17 detected. This hardware requires a software update. Please consult the installation guide". Which makes me think I have to put the card back into the machine to take the software out of it.garyb wrote:start/programs/scope platform/uninstaller
Re: new to scope need help please!!
when the card is removed and the machine is restarted, the drivers, while still on the hd, are uninstalled by windows.

Well, the card IS removed from this system. When I boot up, when windows is almost finished loading, I get a the following popup windows :
Installation error - Hardware version 16 detected. This hardware requires a software update. Please consult the installation guide.
Cannot start scope fusion platform - Could not gain access to the Creamware hardware!

Re: new to scope need help please!!
that's because the software is trying to communicate with the board, which isn't there. then you get a warning and then the program closes and does nothing.
just go to start/run/msconfig and the startup tab. scroll down to the "c:scope 4.5/application" or similar entry and uncheck. upon restart you will get a message that the configuration ustility was used. uncheck "tell me again" and the message will be gone. if you wish, you can trash the Scope folder. if you REALLY wish, i can tell you how to manually clear Scope entries in the registry, but that's unecessary.
if you had unistalled before removing the card, this shouldn't have happened, but there's no damage done.

any time the card and software don't talk to each other.
