EastWest/Quantum Leap Pianos

I just ordered the EastWest/Quantum Leap Pianos Crossgrade.

It's 64-bit for Vista 64-bit (works on 32 bit also). It uses 250 gigs of disk space!

wow 250 GB thats amazing.
installing it is going to be like the old days of installing windowsNT with 22 floppies lol
even with 2-1 compression its going to be like 30 DVDs!

at least they dont have to worry about anyone stealing it !

I just read that it has built in networking.... nice! I can use this with my other computer and Scope. The impulse reverbs is interesting. I don't have a soft pedal only sustain so I guess I won't be hearing those samples lol. Alright, I know I could program those in. It has staccato samples! I am not sure what "release trails" and "repetitions" is.

Installing now. It has taken me 90 minutes to get through 7 out of 35 DVDs.

Update: It is now 4 hours and 40 minutes since I began this. I am on 21. I am determined to finish tonight.

Update: it took 7 hours, or maybe 8. I started to go crazy at the end.

wow, don't they just have a hard disk or something.. I remember vsl had an option to "buy on harddisk".. these things are so huge that'll make sense.

I was thinking the same thing Kensuguro, or they could have sold these pianos separately but then it would not generate as much income. I for one would have bought just one or two of them. The philosophy much like Creamware and Sonic Core is to make huge packages so that customers will be forced to spend more. I can't complain though since they did offer a very nice crossgrade. I'm going to get the Stormdrum II crossgrade when I save up enough money.

I can't remember if it was galaxy II, or QL pianos, but they did have them separate for a short while.. I wonder if they still have it. The catch was that you could only get 16bit version, and in k2 format or something like that. But the libs were downloadable, which I thought was great. I wonder if those are still available. I do remember it wasn't directly from EastWest though. Some other service that specialized in downloadable versions of libraries.

All libraries should be downloadable.. I hate snailmail in NY.. if you miss it, you're screwed since most pick up locations are only accessible by car, and nobody has a car around here.

They used Fedex which is good. Anything which does not fit in the mailbox will be held a 10 mile drive away.

Got the "Play" software in and the "iLok". None of the software from the DVD worked, I had to download fresh ones. Perhaps because of Vista Service Pack 1.

Repetition samples are the same note sampled again. I guess they are at a slightly different velocity. It is not possible to do anything exactly the same twice. This makes it more human sounding. Trills would be an example where this would sound good.
