Hi,
does anybody know if this is possible?
SMUX work on a luna card with zlink/adat daughter board. I'm currently using scope 4 but don't see an option for sync to SMUX. Does it only show up if you connect an SMUX source? I don't have an SMUX capable converter but am thinking about purchasing one and was wondering if the Luna would work or do I need to upgrade to a pulsar?
any help greatly appreciated
cheers Greg
Does SMUX work on a luna card with zlink/adat daughter board
Re: Does SMUX work on a luna card with zlink/adat daughter board
afaik the luna does not S/MUX. the manual says somewhere "only available with pulsar2 or current scope hardware" (where scope stands for the big boards, imho).

OK thanks for that! O couldn't see it in the manual or specs on the web.

it's not easy to find, especially not since the chapter where I found it is missing in the english language version...echidna wrote:OK thanks for that! O couldn't see it in the manual or specs on the web.

well my version 4 didn't actually seem to have a manual. I downloaded ver4.5 and sure enough it's there. Also it seemed to work with all the same functionality of V4, looks pretty much the same, just installed over the top and didn't have to add any new codes.

Re: Does SMUX work on a luna card with zlink/adat daughter board
btw, you can of course use your S/MUX capable converter with a luna, you won't just benefit from 96kHz. S/MUX has to be set manually anyway, since the adat datastream has no flag available that could indicate splitting 96kHz audio over 2 channels (s/mux was introduced later, and by a different company (sonorus vs. alesis).
so if you later add a pulsar to your luna you can just switch over to 96 kHz, but reduce your channel count to half, of course.

So in theory Sonic core could make a module to receive smux on the zlink/adat interface. maybe they think it's not worth as at 96k on a luna, you can only get 1 mixer and a reverb, although that's enough for tracking.

S/MUX is applicable for adat only. Z-Link supports 96kHz by design.echidna wrote:So in theory Sonic core could make a module to receive smux on the zlink/adat interface.
96kHz IS supported with the luna. you just have to use the Z-Link interface, and that means a Luna2496 box (which is out of production) or an A16U.maybe they think it's not worth as at 96k on a luna, you can only get 1 mixer and a reverb, although that's enough for tracking.
if that was your converter of choice anyway, it's all fine
