Please guys help me....
I do have a Pulsar 2 card since 7 years and i have a big problem with the midi part.
I could never use the midi cables with midi in. cause when i put the midi out cable from any keyboard to midi in on my pulsar 2 card it works for a while (sometimes 1 hour or 2 but more times 5 - 30 min) and then it stags and freezes with hanged sound and i have to restart my cpu.
years ago i had P-III 600 mhz cpu and could use it for longer time like 1 - 2 days but was the same problem and i tought the cpu was too slow for it but after i had a P-4 3000 MHZ still same and now i have Q9550 with EP45-DS3R 2 GB 1066 RAM but still the same.
can this be fixed? or is it a bug on the card? does any one else have the same problem here?
it is really bad that i can not use the functions of the midi part.
for midi in i do use another basic Live value card just for midi in out.
Please guys .. do inform me about that.
thanks in advance..
P.S. For solution i tried many different midi cables, different keyboards.
is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
Thanks for answer.
i did also midi filter and closed everything on the keyboards except only note signal. step by step touch. and also did midi filter from the scope 4.0 . but still did it.
what else can i do???

Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
I get sticking notes also.
It is a combination of active sensing amongst other unknown atttributes IMHO.
I use hardware but prior to that had success w/ Wolf's Panic Button and the MIDI Filter being used simultaneously.
The notes would still occur on occasion, but I would stop playing and let the automatic feature clear the pipes.
If you are doing live gigs and really want 100% stability, I would suggest a 1U hardware rack, and not those cheap ass USB ones but real MIDI Merger/Filter.
DMC MX-8, JL Cooper REV.2.0.
I use the DMC since I have 2 of them.
The JL Cooper is the best if you can find one.
An all soft world always sucks no matter what O.S. / Platform one uses.
Insert hardware whenever you can.

Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
Thanks alot but,
U right, sure hardware is always much better that is known but i checked the devices its min. 365$ and does everyone use it that way? if we have to pay that much then i could buy another sound card too.
i dont know what other pulsar 2 user do if they have the same problem. cause this problem is really enoying.
if there is any other solution i will be very thankfull to all who will help me.
The Pulsar 2 is realy nice card very flexible with its routing part and also the sound quality i'm realy satisfied with it, but its bad u cant use it with Mac OSX and vista. soon they bring out Scope 5 for both OS but another 200 Euro must be paid for it. this is something i really dont like. they could at least make just a free driver for scope 4.0 to use it with Vista and Mac OSX.

Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
for most apps, midi in Scope is more than acceptable. for heavy note and controller usage, a usb midi interface is better.
the midi patch bays mentioned will really help, since it filters noise like active sensing, and they can easily be found used for $100.

Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
yes, true. is the card sharing an irq with anything else?
Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
Thanks for your helps,
Yes i many times did change the Pci slots also on the old pc's ,the irq's was also ok like now, there is not any other share with pulsars.
by the way as DAW i use the Nuendo 3.2.0 buil 1128. but earlier on Cubase sx3 it did hang too.
Well if i can find the mentioned midi patch bays for 100$ then it would be ok.
but my question to you experienced friends is will the patch bay solve my problem for sure?
thanks many times for your helps....

http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-Cooper-MSB-plus- ... 7C294%3A50
This is the best old school unit available.
It will last for as long as MIDI.
I have had USB M Audio 8 x 8 ( peice of shit ) paid 300 USD and it looks like a 50 dollar build, worthless IMHO.
For a smaller set up where you can run a software app. and Filter the exact messages you want.................http://www.midisolutions.com/prodevp.htm
http://www.midisolutions.com/progtool.htm
Just look at the software tool that works w/ all of the MIDISolutions products.
Note that all of JFast's devices have active sensing filters built into them.
I take my 4U DAW home everynight to practice/program and my 1U MIDI unit stays in the big racks at the gig.
As soon as I start sending large amounts of data into my DAW w/o the protection of the hardware filter I experience the MIDI Blues.
Thankfully I have Wolfs Panic Button and tools to help out. But they still allow the stuck notes to ring out until they are cleared by the software.
With the hardware it never happens,....zero....zilch.....nadda.
I find that when I push the DSP chips and project to a high percentage the MIDI is at it's worst.

Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
yes, it's a buffer issue.
Re: is there any solution for midi signal problems with pulsar 2
I had the same issue and after installing the Scope driver v.3.1a/3.1b it never happened again. Maybe someone here could provide a link for it.
