Sound output drops out

Post by Dj Ruffryder »

I allready work quite a while with Creamware Scope, and with Cubase. I started out with Cubase Sx2, and recently I upgraded to Cubase 4.5.2
Everything works just fine, except for 1 issue that's been bothering me;

I have some external instruments and external effects connected via adat to my soundcard. I integrated these external synths and effects into Cubase with midi devices, and by selecting the correct in and output channels for these pieces of gear.

Everything works like it should, but I still have one problem. When I start a new project, and I want to add a FX Channel with one of my external effects, or if I create a Instrument track with an external Instrument, all of a sudden all of my sound output drops out.
I can get the output of the sound back by going to the device setup menu and resetting my outputs. But when I want to add another external synth or fx later on in my project, the same problem occurs. All my sound drops out, and the only way to get it back on track is by resetting the outputs again. Also when I want to add another output bus, sometimes my sound drops out as well..

Very strange, because this problem didn't occur to me in Cubase SX 2 (for as far the output busses concerning). Did anyone else on this forum have the same issue in the past, or does anyone know what can cause this problem..? It's getting really annoying to keep resetting my outputs everytime I want to add an output bus, or an external synth or Fx..

All help is welcome!!

Thanks in advance !

are you adding asio channels in Scope when this is happening? if so, it's normal. changing the asio source or dest modules must be done with Cubase closed, or you'll have to reset.

Nope, I'm not adding asio channels in scope.. I created and connected those properly before starting cubase.. I have created a template scope preset which gets loaded as default, with all necessary asio modules for the external fx and synths loaded and connected.. So that isn't the problem.. :-?

Thanks for your reply..!

Not sure, but SC has a patch available for working with Cubase 4 "at other samplerates". May be worth a try?

I tried scope in Xtc mode with Cubase 4, and this seems to work just fine..
So from now on I'll just work in Xtc mode..
But it's still strange that without Xtc mode this problem occurs..
