I really need one of these for a mock up.
Any format is cool, and I would consider buying a Rompler or Library if it has decent additions.
I haven't had any luck yet except for EMU. That one is an old converted 8bit sound.
16bit/24bit is fine, but fidelity is imperative as it is a mock up.

Re: Mark Tree Samples
Thanks Ken,
Nice link.
I have decided to buy the real instrument and a case on ebay.
I am on a new kick with adding real instruments that aren't loud.
I haven't seen a real percussionist since I saw Airto w/ Flora Purim years ago, and the other night I saw a guy in a Peruvian acoustic group performing in the Lobby and listened to their flutes and percussion and was impressed at the beautiful sounds. It was the best version of the Simon & Garfunkel song " Sounds Of Silence " I ever heard.
I can't really play percussion all night long but a Mark Tree w/ a mic on a drumstick routed into Scope via the XITE-1 mic-pre w/ plug ins is a hardware enhancement to my VDAT drum tracks.
Besides the samples are all generic loops.
I was hoping for a multi-sample so I could add effects and do Glissandi on my Ribbon controller. At least that way I could control the duration and speed.

Re: Mark Tree Samples
great, learned a new word
when I read the title I thought to myself ...now he's gone completely nuts - sample the forest and bring it to the Vegas dancefloors...
cheers, Tom
btw just a couple of days ago (after a full load of white from above) I once again noticed the mavellous sound of 'air' in a snowy landscape

Making your own samples is a great way to go, JV.
Re: Mark Tree Samples
I keep trying to tell myself there are advantages to playing covers other than financial benefits. Copping other players particular styles is always good, but when I have to buy another instrument and elaborate on it's usage is the best benefit. Another benefit is I will finally use the STS5000.
I can't use Gigastudio as the Scope GSIF drivers are from the 1999 vintage ( 1.7 ), one needs the GSIF 2.0 drivers to take advantage of it. But using the STS and one of my format converters I can record the files and see how well it works.
Ultimately I want to use my knowledge from years of hardware sampling and be able to use a ribbon controller, and also have a loop pre-recorded that I can trigger with a footswitch pedal. Also using it live w/ a drumstick/mic approach and sending it into Scope or even my Rotary cabinet.
Panning in 5.1 might be a trip also.
So while I whine about having to play covers 6 nights a week, the advantages are worthwhile.
Gino Vanellis ballad " I Just Want To Stop " was the first song where I didn't have the sample or effect required, and then when I walked into the Lobby @ Ceasars Palace and heard the real one live the next day, it was one of those meant to be kinda things.
Inspirational moments doing covers are far and few, and must be pursued.
One thing is certain, I will never brag about how I can mix/monitor and perform simultaniously ever again. It takes any modicum of pleasure and fun right out of the job.
I have a talk back feature attached to a controller that mutes the mains and it's like a radio station 's request line in between songs.
For the sake of my sons College funds I must continue.

Re: Mark Tree Samples
i too wondered what a Mark Tree was - i always called them wind chimes myself.
Anyway nice to see you get the real deal. i have used them in the occasional track, but without multisamples you always get the same effect. This will add some randomness which is good.
What sort of price do these things go for (second hand)?

Brotha' Man Stardust...To The Rescue.....You should take a bow. The Mark Tree's will be used starting tonight !!
I will prefer the hardware when they arrive, but this is a very usable up/down sample.
The Bell Tree WAV's are actually a Mark Tree, and are poorly truncated. But the 2 Mark Tree links @ gearslutz are decent 16bit samples I have just finsihed incorporating.
Once in a while I have to take the whole rig to do new VDAT tracks, etc.
I graciously accept your Christmas present..............Ankyu.
I bought a demo from Guitar Centers ebay shop I suppose w/ a case for 100 USD + shipping.
They can be had brand new for 169.00 w/o a case.
This is the PlanetZ I have come to love and learn from....
I shall return the favor w/ a decent STS version as it is the only sampler I know own.
I can guarantee I'll be asking for help next week when I try samplimg this.
I have access to a Solid State CraneSong MicPre, and supposedly my bassist/engineer also has 2 high end mics that will be set up in an X/Y pattern, whatever the hell that means.
We have the B Booth for free on the weekends as long as it's not booked.
How Ya' Doin' Wayne.....hope your doing fine, long time no see.
Thanks You My Brotha's.

Hey Jim, doin' fine
Charting up some Meters, Toussaint, Dorsey, Longhair & Rebennack for a hot little marching band i'm throwing together for our own little Perth Blues Club Mardi Gras in January.
I gotta go to my son's school now to give the year sevens a talk about music careers. Tricky!
