.dev .mdl what's the difference?

Post by Music Manic »

Just reloaded Scope on aother comp and I've found I have some plugs like RMX 160A.dev RMX160.mdl and DAS has some .dev and.mdl of the same plugs.

What is the difference? RMX look completely different.

Thanks

Hi,

In a generic way, a mdl can be viewed as a subprogram wherea a dev is a program.. The execution context of an mdl is stored in the device/project in which it is loaded. a dev is "standalone".

About DAS plugin ... I don't know the difference (if they have the same algo?)

cheers

.mdl files are stored in a project, .dev files are referenced.

Also, insert slots can't remember .mdl settings in presets. So, use .dev as much as possible.

just put them in the proper device folder. unless there are other files required, like additional dsp or vxd files, a restart is all that's required to make the new device available.

they are the same in function.
