My computer is kinda old. I am hoping to upgrade it and get better Scope performance also better performance with all my other software. I don't use Scope as my only tool. It doesn't do everything. In a perfect world I would own an XITE-1 but there is no way in hell I am giving up my other software. Scope just doesn't do those things. No piano or orchestral instruments to name a few blatantly obvious examples. No RAM or hard drive either. You could buy an XITE-1 and get much better Scope performance but it is a walled garden. Originally with the cards, it seemed like Creamware wanted to be a part of my system but now they are drifting away.

Good for Jimmy! I wonder how many other casino/piano lounge players will be buying them and can this keep Sonic Core afloat? How many drinks do you buy a cocktail waitress for her to sleep with you and how many late nights before your wife catches on?

If you want to question my sexual prowess, it just shows your true colors and how ignorant you are.

I admire Tesla, and I admire Scope. Probably will admire Xite - yup.
While I work it hard in my studio, I'll be admiring it - yup.

Obviously everyone won't buy it. Why hope for the impossible? I hope there is world peace next week.

It doesn't matter if everyone buys it or not.

Well that's this thread fcuked. Thanks a bunch. Obviously I should've called it 'Vent your pent up anger' instead of 'Hardware Wishlist - Ideas, Mockups & Designs'.

cheers,

no, he doesn't want to poop on everything. he's a d k.

here are two explanations of the difference. you can decide if you're an a hole or just a kittycat. most people spend some time as each.

now calm down son. you can't be moral and blindly hate humans, not when you're one yourself(or maybe...).

Maybe someone should expand on this GPU based processing. the interface is as fast as you can get and connected directly to the north bridge, many motherboards have 2 PCIe16 slots allready. you could use a video card for video, (even 3d or OS acceleration) and in the other slot something like this

http://www.nvidia.com/page/quadroplex.html

but add DSP as well as GPU so you can have each kind of chip CPU, GPU and DSP doing what it is best at. and all connected with super fast direct bus and able to use system or GPU RAM.

there could be a standard "XTDMI" as well so you can add more GPU/DSP as you like at least as fast as gigabit ethernet with no overhead, much more would be better, as fast as you can send down a cable thats not super expensive.

Would the speed of GPU progress & their related driver development's not be in an issue for dsp hardware manufacturers Neutron?

there are advantages and disadvantages to all the chip approaches, and GPU might be better for certain tasks that neither CPU or DSP are good at, (some things we dont even know about yet) CPU and DSP can coexist, GPU not sitting their wasting when you are not playing a game is kind of a logical progression

AMD even proposed (but will probably never do) a quad or whatever socket motherboard (could be a card) with a standard socket that you could plug GPU, DSP or extra CPU in to. you could have 4 cpu, 3 cpu and a GPU, etc all connected with their
(at the time) super fast bus

and lately the GPU manufacturers have been having a bit of heat issues. high end video cards are nowhere near as efficient as a CPU and they cant really put a giant scythe cooler on them either.

The progress of GPU is similar to DSP. and CPUs they all more or less follow new techniques, CPU is usually one step ahead when it comes to making the transistors smaller.(intel anyways :))

analog or TI could go crazy and use 100W per chip and make something eqivelant to an Xite in 1 chip. but they dont need to. most of their non music biz clients (you know the ones who make missiles and death drones) want low power.

remember even the coolest synths and music gear are made from chips that happen to be good for it. only a few minor chips have actually been created for sound creation (curtis, synth chips and what not) and look at the dedicated stuff they have for consumer recievers decoders etc..atrocious :D

maybe the delay of XITE is because they are adding a NV GPU :D lol

GPUs have a limit instruction set and most functions are hard-wired, but all that will change with Larrabee and Fusion - Imagine fully programmable 48+ x86 cores with 512bit SIMD unit for each core and coherent cache architecture.

DSPs do not offer an inherent advantage over x86 processors anymore, in terms of what they can do or how fast - the reasons for choosing a DSP are price/performance and dongle function.

I agree that it would be better for SC to stay in business but I disagree that they are on the the correct path.

Banning people is a pussy move.

Gary, I don't hate all people, I hate the the republican philosophy and part of the libertarian philosophy and I hate your contention that there is no man made global warming. I also hate guns, and gun lovers. I'm a strong pacifist and against all physical violence be it a war between countries or person to person violence. It might be legal to shoot an intruder in your house but the moral thing to do would be to go out the back door. This isn't as macho a move I know and I seriously doubt any gun owners would do this. They live for this one chance to legally kill another human being.

C'mon brainz, we know you'd be just luring them into the bear traps set out in the back yard.
