China's exploited, that's for sure. That's the whole system of asymetric business that is mother to US capitalism. (I think US capitalism is unlike anything else in the world) Problem is, China probably knows about it, and doesn't really care. They know that in order to boom, they have to take some blows, and if the people with less power take the blow, the government doesn't give a damn. But I have a feeling that sort of government attitude isn't just local to China. (uh.. citizens pay for the US government's financial mishaps?)

If you talk to Chinese people as I have, you will find that they don't like everything about their government but they hate us telling them what to do. They still have pride in their country. It's not like they all feel oppressed like you think they do. Our cocky attitude is what makes Chinese people and people all over the world strongly dislike us.

I work with Chinese and have Chinese friends. They love their country, and love Americans. They don't think we're cocky. They're smart and know the difference, and they know that people in their country are also abused. Some of the smartest, friendliest people I know.

Vietnam is a similar story as is Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and most of South America.

I'll have to track down the data that shows China's rapid growth is rapidly leading to recession - it may not make it through this global recession or depression we are heading towards.

France hasn't survived the recession since they are now getting loans from the EU.

It's all manipulated and the global citizenry is caught in the middle.

We're forced to pay taxes without being able to delegate where the money goes. It's a bullshit, corrupt system.

the Chinese economy that is so great is growing on industry that would be better suited if done here, if the people who live here matter at all...

Funny how you see all these pickup trucks even in urban areas and they never seem to be hauling anything in the bed. What a waste of money, fuel and cause of pollution. If this is why you want and think you need low taxes, then I say you should be taxed into oblivion. Your cars are larger than you need. Your McMansion is bigger than you need. I have driven my rig in 2 cars to the gig for too long.
The time for a giant gas guzzler is ripe.
Sure it gets worse gas mileage, but one car instead of 2 seems like a smaller carbon tax.
But I will haul something when I use it, plus I can haul a shitload of Mexicans over to the house to help me rake up the leaves, which I shall make sure go to the giant compost thus reducing Global Warming, so I'm feeling just fine Ankyuvarymush.

In all honesty up here in Tahoe the air and water are so clean, one cannot help but trying to preserve it's beauty.
Braincells point is quite valid though about empty SUV's and Pick Up Trucks. They still have to use chains in the winter to climb the high grades.
The smaller front wheel drive Subaru's are allowed to pass the inspection sites w/o that purchase.
I would so love to carry my rig. If that day comes I shall invest in the new VAX77 w/ a strap, use Solaris 5.0, and keep the hardware version at my crib.
My stands and speakers can remain at the gig and everynight the DAW comes home for tweaks. Even my stand is portable and looks like a rifle when bagged up.
That would be so nice. Naturally to avoid being mugged or robbed my Baretta w/ it's 13 shot clip and one in the chamber will be carried, as by state law I am a contactor and paymaster, and getting a licesnse would be no trouble.
I would then be a true warrior of Scope...
