DirectX 8.1

the latest DirectX that was told to be adequate for us, audio producers, was Dx6.1. cos it's the best, less restricted audio dx solution. later versions have been bugged by MicroSuxx for pro audio.

since that version, a lot of the OS has changed, though. i don't know how it would react to more recent Win releases...

Latest DirectX8.1 doesn't seem to cause me grief.
