Hi I have a Luna card and want more analogue and digital in/out to run external effects units within Logic. I know there is an 8 in/out analogue box, but is there a digital multi in/out S/PDIF 24bit solution.
Cheers

Hi, I have been looking into this also. I thought about taking the ADAT outs and piping them into a digital patchbay that can detangle the adat signal and route to SPDIF pairs.

I have found 3 products so far that do this or something similar but all are quite expensive.

RME ADI-8 DD (rme-audio.com)

this converts between
ADAT -> AES
ADAT -> TDIF
TDIF -> AES

but no spdif

FriendChip DMX16/32 (friend-chip.com)

This will convert between anything u want pretty much - u choose up to 4 modules with the DMX16 and up to 8 modules with the DMX32. Their MQA module detangles the ADAT and you can route the 8 detangled channels to any of their other modules, spdif(opt/coax) and AES.

Z-Sys z 8.8 8x8 ADAT Detangler (www.z-sys.com)

ADAT -> SPdif
ADAT -> AES

The Z-Sys and RME products seem the most PRO of the 3 offering very high dynamic range and AES connectivity. The Friendchip product seems the most versatile offering nice expansion options and complex routing.

A Basic Friendchip DMX16 with ADAT detangler and 8 IO SPDIF will cost around £700, the other 2 products cost closer to £1000.

If you find something that can convert ADAT -> 8 IO SPDIF for less please let me know :smile:
