i agree, but taxing "carbon" has nothing to do with responsibility, nor does blindly following "authority" and "experts"(as in "authorities state..." and "experts agree...". also, i am not a guest, i am a DIRECT function of the earth and i belong here. EVERYTHING is temporary, including the earth.

Obama is merely a PUBLIC SERVANT. he'd best behave. no "civilian antiterror squads just as powerful, well funded and trained as the military"(paraphrase) and no taxes on travel or carbon is required. no further dependance on the benevolance of the slave creating central power is needed if there are to be ANY free humans in the solar system...

yeah, I'm not holding out much hope for the 'left-guard' suddenly gaining a conscience and really awakening America while we rapidly head towards being taxed for breathing too much CO2 (while we keep cutting down trees and over-fishing the oceans).

The Sun truly has entered another cycle and the glaciers are returning. We are not to blame, and don't let the fake lefties tell you otherwise. In the meantime, plant some trees, and stop overfishing the oceans, hydrolyze some water, and flip the finger at the global banker/oil/insurance magnates.

Nope, not holding out much hope for America and the world suddenly awakening from a slumber brought about by fancy speeches, rigged voting systems, (Obama really only 'won' by about 20 counties in the whole US, which is why he supposedly won the electoral vote - but we'll see what happens after Dec. 15th). Basically the country is still split 50/50 as evidenced in the popular vote. THAT is how they divide and conquer.

I really FEEL for the millions of young people that want REAL TRANSFORMATION in the country - beyond war, true equal rights, return to sovereignty, ending warrantless searches, etc. - but these guys are basically front-men for the global banksters driving the train off the cliff. Obomba voted for the bailout, while McPain was ready to charge YOU $300Bil to bail out the banks (once elected), while holding your home as collateral.

People won't know what hit them around the end of January when the dollar has imploded, and Russia is gritting it's teeth.

Nope, not much hope there at all, sorry - but neither one of these so-called candidates' actions historically have led to us any real sense of true hope and possibility for the 'New USA'.

OK going a bit OT here but:

This article on David Bellamy goes some way to validate gary's argument. For those outside the UK this guy was THE naturalist on TV in the '70s and '80s, is highly regarded and was sort of a David Attenborough on speed with a beard. He would happily tie himself to trees etc. so he is definitely pro-green, which makes it even more interesting as he hasn't joined on the global-warming lobby (redesignated climate-change as they realised it's getting colder now and would get found out) and heavily disses Gore for his non-science approach.

Anyway back to Obama (who won't make a jot of difference)...

Apart from concrete politics and related issues (which I won't discuss at the moment), I can just feel happy at the final confirmation. It's encouraging to know that the current majority in the US shares Obama's ideas and purposes.

Even though being out from the details, I'm on the idea that the tax increase proposed by Democratics will not ruin anybody..

It seems the republicans were split between moderates and conservatives. The bickering between Palin and the McCain team was hilarious to watch as a democrat. It would be interesting to see where they go from here. I would like to see more political parties arise from this. I'm left of Obama. He is described as a liberal but he is conservative from my perspective.

In ballet initiatives on Tuesday, Massachusetts decriminalized up to one ounce of marijuana and California voted to ban gay marriage. About 18,000 gay couples have already married since a court ruling made them legal there this year. Perhaps we should change our name from the 'USA' to simply the 'SA'.

what i have seen is that Americans are disgusted with the currect regime, the Republicans put up bozos in opposition, a geart many Americans would LIKE to vote for a "black" candidate to show that they aren't racist slavers and Obama still only got 50% of the VOTING public(that's even with ALL major networks and media showing Obama in the best light. he had the best spots on the nightly newscast, always with a good soundbite and his face was featured on every magazine, all in a way that Mccain's wasn't. when Mccain and Palin were shown, they always were shown in the most clownish light). a good portion of the public rejected BOTH candidates and voted for the smaller parties or refrained from voting at all. Americans are for helping the little guy when he's down, but in general they aren't going for the kind of socialist dictatorship(no matter how benevolent) that Obama is putting forth(they wouldn't really support his call for "fingermen", for example).

on the other hand, there are QUITE a few still, without actually investigating much further into concrete policies, that only hear Obama say "change" and, since they really hate what America has been used for, think "change" means into something nicer(sound-bite lovers). this makes the Obama supporters that really DO exist, into very feirce fanatics. we'll see if they are dissapointed or not.

McCain didn't have supporters with such fervor. if he had won, it'd be a less hopeful move from the electorate, but as i said, the gap between candidates was not large, and, as i pointed out before, both candidates are members of the CFR and both support the CFR agenda.

I disagree with you on Obama, his choice of Congressman Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff was an excellent one which I applaud. He gained points with me today.

As for the issue of racism in America, I have a feeling the popularity of Hip hop music played a big role in this election. I live in rural America and I can tell you it is what young people listen to everywhere and from what I've seen online even world-wide. Racism still exists obviously, especially among older people but I find that Hispanic people are equally if not more hated so slavery has nothing to do with the reason black people face discrimination here. You are not going to see a Hispanic president soon and even less likely to see an atheist president. To say we have crossed some threshold of acceptance is grossly overstated. Obama has a lot going for him. He is intelligent, charismatic and a terrific orator. He pretty much has what it takes to be a first class president. I have heard a lot of people say he is a socialist and they don't want us to be like Europe. I want to be like Europe. Studies show that Europeans are more happy and better educated than we are and health care on average costs half as much there. I don't want insurance companies to exist for the benefit of stock holders. I want them to be working for the public. If they can't do that, screw them we should totally nationalize it. The doctors I have spoken with agree. They hate the insurance companies.

Slightly OT, but there was a family in the UK very recently who lost their home to HBOS for being 1 single payment behind on their mortgage. That was shortly after the government funded bail out & subsequent banking corporation merger worth 100's of millions.........
