OMG!
I've just spent all night getting my music pc up and running again after a dissasterous attempt to "update" windows XP to SP3... long story short, I had to reinstall everything, including all my Scope devices which is actually quite a few by now, but alas, the pain... the PAIN.. THE FUCKING SUCKING PAIN of reinstallation of everything.
Scope is really a pain in the butt to reinstall from scratch with all the third party developers and their different ways of securing their software etc. I LOVE what they are doing for us!!! but man... Also getting the presets and other small special files into the right folder is just a total mess - SC listen carefully, you have to come up with a better and easier system!!!! I know you can just copy the old folder, but I lost it - don't ask me how, but I did...
I still have John Bowens stuff to install and Flexor 3, but that will have to wait untill my head is clear again - it's simply too much information to do it right.
Every single native app has it's own little peculiar scheme for protection as well, and they also change this from time to time. Now I have to have an account at novation to get the latest software update for my controller. Gigastudio is not supported anymore, so I'll just have to hope that I have the backup files somewhere...
NI Battery also needs a new "service center" software to be installed. it's easier than the old scheme, but still...
Let this be a lesson for you all - if you have a good running setup of all your software, ghost it. Ghost it so you don't have to go through what I'm going through now. GHOST IT NOW!!!
Also, I'm done buying new software, it's too damn ridicules to install all this crap, and I have more than I'll ever need and more than I'll ever learn how to use.
Rant over - I just had to let out some steam here... sorry...

that's certainly a situation where you begin to think, if you actually own the software, you'd just rather install the cracked version instead to do away with all the licensing crap. Of course, I don't condone software piracy, but licensing, activations, usb dongles.. it's just too much! Guess it wouldn't have been that way if not for piracy..
