Farfisa organs... anyone know about them?

Post by chriskorff »

Hi all,

Someone's flogging a Farfisa organ very near to me, for £45 (about 100 USD), but I know NOTHING about organs, let alone Farfisa ones. It seems they don't even know the model name, but they call it an 'Easychord', say it's a dual-manual model and that it has foot pedals. The Farfisa name is one that, for some reason, I associate with 'goodness', so I'm wondering if this is an absolute steal or not?

Cheers!

If it's working ok it's probably a real bargain. Check model no's and prices here at Prepal.

Chris, if it's like the big wooden 'Maestro' pictured below, they can sell for as much as £250 - £300. The other model, the VIP-233 can sell for as much as £200 - £250.

there are about 20,000 capacitors of various strange values that make the tones and tune each set of keys. be very careful that all keys work and that the organ is in tune. otherwise, you may have an impossible repair...

Cheers for the replies all!

i've decided to give it a miss, because I just don't have the room, unfortunately :(

I saw a couple of dual-manual Farfies on ebay for fuck all though, so my guess is it's a somewhat lower-end model (unless they really DON'T have a clue!) Anyway, if anyone can be arsed to pick one up from Cambridge UK, check Gumtree (Cambridge section, of course). And if you do, give me a shout cos it's about a mile away from me!

Cheers!
