New DSP Reverb Makes Me Smile

Post by dawman »

I woke up today and wasn't expecting such a sweet device.
I have so-so feelings w/ DSP Verbs still.
Some are fine for percussion, ambience, etc. But they don't wrap around the sound like a hardware verb, but live this is no big deal.
But this reverb sounds exactly like a large wooden stage inside of an auditorium.
Perfect for my Pianos which I have been using alot of lately.

I am on my sons 100 USD 88 note plastic keyed controller w/ zero knobs for MIDI CC controlling. I even have to press 2 different keys for a program change>>>

Excuse the clunkers and lack of decent dynamics, but this verb has to be heard, and Piano was the Choice du Jour.

Ok, Jimmy pardon my ignorance on a Sunday afternoon, but what verb are you talking about?

Brotha' Man Crickstone.......Long Time No Speaky.

It's a demo from an SDK guy who never ceases to anaze me with his stuff. We are really blessed by these guys, and this is just proof of the puddin'.

I am depressed as I wait for XITE-1. But I just turn on the closest Internet PC and come here, and a giant hand comes out of my LCD and slaps my face, and says shut up Bitch....and play.

Here's a better OVERDONE effect to display the warmth and wrapping effect. I would never use this much unless I was trying to percieve the sound of a 100 yard long concert hall with the viewer perspective of 175 feet.

The developer will surely get angry at me and respond sometime soon.
You can bust his balls.
He has made other nice verbs before but I found myself adding the Early Reflector from CW to supplement the effect to my tastes, but this Dog Hunts just fine by itself and needs no pack strategies.

I often have to cover Guitar parts so I don't have to hire another, as I already have a Rock God in my group.
But I will use this on Guitar samples instead of the Slapback or Spring reverb.
This has much more control and doesn't color the sound whatsoever.

The Guitars are a GVI based sample from Sonivox.I think it cost me 29 USD downloaded.

The Damping and Spatial EQ are extremely surgical on this.
I just hooked it up to an entire mix using SpaceF's FP106C to run through my Surround speakers which I just started using w/ the 2 x 6 Conveter Module pictured above, and this sounds as good as my Lexicon MPX-550, but actually is better due to the editable parameters you've provided.
You can't possibly be creating this w/o some sort of a hardware for referencing. Which unit are you using?

Take a pebble is one of the best demos I've heard from you JV. What created the piano sound btw, was it sample based?

It's a cheap old Gigastudio Piano for 80 bucks called the Black Grand.
I like it better than the 500 USD Romplers with Chiggabyte sized samples that can't possibly be triggered properly on modern day controllers. They can't even get the sostenuto pedal to work on those big VSTi's, but they have a nice picture to look at.
Glad You Liked It.
I still have a long way to go with recordings, but it's a snap doing a quick take into VDAT where I only have a live stereo track to deal with. :D
