laphroaig... well, you love it, or not. I don't. tried it once, and most probably won't ever again. it has a very special note, or better, lots of, but it's just not my taste...

I agree with you Kylie - don't know if you have this medication in Germany, but it tastes like TCP with a bad attitude (TCP is an antiseptic for cuts etc)

But hey, if it was the last one...................

Similar are Lagavulin (but much nicer) and some of the Bowmore range (taste like Laphroig rejects)

I'm beginning to sound like a big drinker here aren't I?
The worst drinker I know lives right behind us. She gets stoned on white cider and vodka and then starts shouting, screaming and terrorising family & neighbours.
We call her "Alki Ada"

Laphroaig is a weirdo of a whisky. Last time I tried it was years ago, but I seem to remember it having a really peaty, earthy taste. Is that right? It must be the solitude getting to the Islanders. Either that, or their livestock eat too many mushies in October & the locals spend the rest of the year suffering for it.

Well it costs about 24/25 quid here, so I won't be running out to buy it, even if it would flush this virus out of me. Still got a tin somewhere that keeps my oil paints from getting used.

there is surely something adequate over here, but I refuse to drink that as well ;)

I actually had a bowmore miniature that was acceptable, but nevertheless heading towards that direction (laphroaig), but that's no real surprise since both are islay malts. and it's likely that it applies to ardbeg, lagavulin, caol ila, bunnahabhain, bruichladdich and port ellen as well.

I'll stay with the northern highlands, and ireland, of course.

You'll get that, but if you like your whisky on ice, that's exactly how you should drink it, no matter what anyone says....

No it was full, boxed & very tasty. Being a stereotypical Scotsman, I thought it was such a bargain that I went back into the little shop the following day & bought 3 bottles to bring home. :D It WAS about 7yrs ago tho..

:D

Last year in thailand I drank all kinds..... they didnt have chivas so I
was trying out various brands. Funny thing is I dont remember much of any of their
taste..... see the problem was that the bar which was open longest, was under/from the
hotel I stayed in! and once they know your room number, and all you gotta do is some
pen action..........

I like Talisker, too - it makes fine explosions in my mouth.
This year I had an 18 years old Macallan, it was a real miracle for me.
