Speaking of Mario, that tune's got some very cool changes. Actually it's interesting how a lot of the earlier Nintendo games had swing / jazz-ish structure. I'm guessing because the walking bass could create a better sense of chord progression without sacrificing one of the other 3 pulse waves.. (which I believe was shared with sound effects.. or something like that)

Also, the dude who wrote the mario tune doesnt' own the rights to it. Nintendo does. Kind of sad considering it's one of the most famous Japanese written songs ever. (are there any other songs written in japan that you know about?) Well, I guess Rydeen and some other YMO tunes could be known to a select few.. Oh, maybe the Kill Bill theme (battle with out humility, by Hotei Tomoyasu) but nothing like the Mario tune. Oh, and a great runner up would be the theme for Dragon Quest.. but Dragon Quest isn't quite as famous as Mario so..

ah, the godzilla theme.. forgot about that one. I still think the earlier arrangements were better that the recent "neo" gozilla ones.. My mom's a big time fan since she was a kid.. incidentally she's a pharmacist now, so one can only imagine what sort of chemical's she's brewing.
