how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
hi!
is it possible for using another midi channel 11,12 for instance?

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
You mean another controller?
Midi has only 16 channels.I think you need to use cc32,i never had a synth where this was changed.Maybe there are some but midi standart for that is cc32.

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
Are you talking about switching Banks in the preset list?
I always make a bank for my own presets and stay with those. I am interested to see the bank changes being used though for an option. Nice topic.

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
yes, switching banks. i have made a few configurations but i think i need a dedicated cotroler to stm4896
i use a cme u7 keyboard which i have set a knob giving cc32 and when this knob shows 0, presets of stm change.
i have also set midi presets index to 64 for all scope synths, and therefore when this knob gives velocity 64 this means that engages the midi presets for the synth.
i use also a clavinova which does not help in midi assign
i also use the waveidea bitstream 3x. this really rocks.
i have set in ableton 4 x 8 audio channels + 8 midi channels and for each slider there are 4 knobs.
it is really interesting how i have recently set it by having for each channel 1 filter of ableton. i set parameters of the filters in each channel which means 4 knobs for each filter. the top knobs are all set to controll the ammount of the filters and when i turn a knob fully left filters switch off, (this is a multiple capability of ableton in assigning a knob and doing more than one job depending on the midi value).
Now what i have stuck for is: I try to asign the 24 first channels of stm 4896 to the bitstream
i have tried to assign the the 8 first to midi channel 11, but when i try to assign the second 8 channels of stm by using midi channel 12 in bitstreams sliders.. stm responds but moves the first slider again.
What can i do?
there is the use device midi channel box which does not make any difference.

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
I see what you're doing. Let me mess around with some goodies and get back to you.
Sounds like your double paging the sliders. Old Digital mixers in hardware w/ 8 channels / faders had buttons to push to allow going from volume controlled faders tp EQ Gains, etc.
I will dust off the DMP7 and see what's cooking. Afterall that mixer was the reason for designing the 256 MIDI choices by Yamaha.
Once I get my head around the Hexidecimal system again I will let you know if I got lucky.

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
sorry again but i don't get it.
i tried alfonsos midi transformer. it works but applies to the whole mixer. i cannot make give different midi channel from faders 9 to 16, different channel from 17 to 24 etc....
i guess i have a confusion.
helplease!!!!
in other words i want for each scopes mixer slider to obbey in its own midi channel without the need to change the midi channel of the whole mixer.

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
maybe i am not clear enough, but as far as i have understood alfonsos cc trasporter does make you change the midi singal but for all sliders, and not for each one independetelly, because stm mixers have only one "midi in"
Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
That's a nifty device also.
But I think a better approach IMO is to use a single MIDI Channel for all faders w/ different CC's being assigned from the Bitstream. Then have different MIDI Channels for the 8 Busses.
If you could explain why you need a different MIDI channel for each STM channel it would help.
I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but assume you want seperate channels to help out controlling the insert FX simultaneously. I use SpaceF's mixer because the insert FX can be controlled on a seperate channel and have their own sub preset lists, and insert load presets also. This keeps the same mixer scene while changing the insert FX only.
Explain to me what the need for so many MIDI channels on 1 mixer is for, so I can better understand your needs.
In the beginning of the thread you speak of Banks, so I am not quite sure of your purposes now.

well!!
from the start.
i use a standard empty scope project as startup with full asio to and from ableton live.
in ableton i have made asignments of 48 channelssliders of bitstream, and because bitstrean has only 8 sliders i use midi channel 1 for the 8first, midi channel 2 for 9 to 16 midi channel 3 for 17 to 24 and midi channel 4 for 23 to 32 channels of ableton. the switch among midi vhannel control is convenient by having bitstream checking always the midi channel parameter and therefor i use up and down arrows for changing midi channels and therefore groups of eights in ableton.
now. the best thing is to buy a dedicated midi controler for scopes stm, but in my case i have tried to control scopes mixer through bitstream.
so. the cyprus is not convenient for it is too messy having one for each slider.
also, i do not have the intention to use different midi ch for each scopes slider. i just try to find a way to use bitstream to control all scopes mixer. the ableton way is to make 6 groups of eights again, this means 6 midi channels for 48 sliders.

The link is HTP404.
In short you want the Bitstream to double map with the Ableton's channels, having them follow the STM sliders if I am reading this correctly.
When you move a fader on the Bitstream, do you want it to control the Ableton and STM faders simultaneously?
Or do you seek seperate controls for each mixer?

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
separate controls.
i do not care for moving abletons mixer doubled with scope, because each mixer has its own job.
Separate for sure.
in my case it would work if bitstream would use midi channels from 11 to 16 for scope and the 10 first midi channels for ableton.
so if i want to control scopes mixer i would set bitstream to channel from 11 to 16 or whatever and if i want to control ableton i would switch back to the appropriate midi channel.

Re: how can i change preset banks by other than midi channel 32?
Bitstream supports changing bitstream presets as easily as switching midi channels....
