<<<<New computergear can't install Pulsar II board [SOLVED]

Post by RundFyrkant »

I just got a new computersystem (again) with the following specs.
intel q6600 quadcore CPU
gigabyte GA EP35 DS3 motherboard
XFX 9800 GTX graphics

all with standard settings.

iv'e installed my Pulsar II board in PCI slot3 on the motherboard but when i restart windows (xp sp3)
no new hardware is recognized.
when i try to install the scope 4.5 driver manually the computer bluescreens half way through the installation process.
i just can't get it to install, iv'e tried everything i can think of.

i'd be happy to take some directions to get this solved?

Stardust, lightningfast response as usual :-)

No sign of it in the device manager. thats whats really surprises me. It seems like WinXP does'nt even understand that the board is in place.
on my other computers Win found it automaticly.

oh and another thing.
i just checked the ADAT connections at the back and theres light comming out of them.
it seems the card get power and is inserted properly on the motherboard.

try reinstalling the intel chipset drivers. windows can find most of them to have a working machine, but sometimes its a bare minimum to get it running, and some peripherals (like the PCI bus) get missed out.

just tried reinstalling chipsetdrivers and did a reboot. Windows still gives nothing to indicate that the board is even there.
I've gone trough all the BIOS settings once again but i can't find anything there either.

are there any winapps that can scan the PCI slots outside the winsettings to see if anyting is connected?

the PCI slot should be ok. the motherboard is brand new and it seem to feed power to the Pulsar, since the ADATs shines red.
i'll see if i can get an old PCI card somwhere to rule out it's broken.

feeding power is one thing the pci interface is something else.

if windows fails to install a device, it may ignore it in the future until you request that it be installed.

use the Add Hardware wizard in the control panel....[crossed fingers]

yes did try that as well.
windows find nothing and on the next step to install it manually, when i point the drivers for pulsar II windows starts loading
them and suddenly bluescreen in the middle of the install process.
really really frustrating.....

i got a 550W powersupply and it should provide more than enough juice.
i'm gonna try another PCI card checking the PCIslot and also i'll try mount the Pulsar in my old computer.
got all the drivers and everything in there so it should jumpstart right away.
thanks for all the help. i'll get back when i'm done.

Not that it looked in need of cleaning, i anyways cleaned the boardcontacts
and the PCIslot with alcohol and poped it right back in.
Windows immediately found the Pulsar and asked for drivers.
Have no idea why it did'nt work in the first place but it don't matter now.

thanks for the assistance guys!
