It's an interesting video. There are a couple of other devices like this but I haven't seen one with this many buttons. Having the machine is better than a touchscreen maybe for a live performance or perhaps he is just biased. A touchscreen device would be cool because it can be altered, also you can use speed of motion not just pushing a button. Windows 7 will have touch built into the OS. I expect to see a lot of music software which takes advantage of that whenever it comes out. In a couple years I guess. I hope you can do something with it Red.

already planned :P

btw here are some less useful but more beautiful controller designs based on a touch table:

interesting stuff but what i liked about the former one is that is minimalist, and very useful for live stuff. they have dozens of videos showing different usages for the device, and most of them have proper music rather than just pure noodling that reactable is capable of (i'm not talking about the sound engine- thats a sad issue by itself).

and ofcourse there is lemur

a masterpice in its own right.

however physical resistance is an important factor when playing music
it helps connect to the instrument and realy feel it

for this i would suggest this:

claytronics ;)

I think I better upgrade flexor now.

I started watching the videos; fascinating. One thing I noticed about the drum beats is that they are built on a grid which is perhaps good and necessary but there should be a grid for the velocity as well as the beat. That is a pet peeve of mine about a lot of electronic music.

What is OSC? This Wii is better than knobs? I watched some Wii midi videos and it doesn't seem great.
