Input switcher x8
hi. I record through the stm1632 mixer.
It would be nice to have a module that can switch between all 16 outpus, and another pair of 16 outputs.
i mean:
a device with 2x8, that is: A-8 inputs, and B-8 inputs. The device should be able to switch between the the 2x8 A/B inputs.
and the device should only have 8 outputs.
this is the way i would use it:
connect 8 outputs directly from my luna in/out box to the stm mixer, and also connect 8 outputs directly the 8-A inputs on the "soon to be made device".
Then also connect 8 outputs from the stm mixer to the 8-B inputs on the "soon to be made device".
and go from the "soon to be made device" 8 outputs into my asio channels.
the thing should be midi controlled ( AND WORK IN XTC MODE! ) and only have one single switch: A and B.
That way i can select if i want to record things clean (bypassing the stm mixer) or record things with the fx i have loaded in to the stm mixer.
does that make sense?
I think it already has been made, cant remember the name though, and i think it only had 2 inputs ond 1 out..
thanks!

anyone
Re: Input switcher x8
I'm certain SpaceF has such a free device. Can't remember its name at the moment and the search function comes up with nothing familiar... I'll look for it later today...
edit: devices are called switch8, 16 and 24

it makes sense, but I would recommend to record always everything dry, once you have fx on certain channels on disk, you may have to rerecord it.
With the original channels you can always mix down the way you want and go back to every stage.
just add more DSP for enough realtime usage.

yeah.. i know
but sometimes it makes sense to me to record for instance a guitar with distortion on it, etc.
thanks

I have only Switch4 and Switch6 on my "repacked" BlackBox installation - but they are 4-or-6 Stereo in and 1 Stereo out, so you can only listen to one input out of 4 or 6.borg wrote:edit: devices are called switch8, 16 and 24
On the other hand, SpaceF's MB4 mixer might be just what you're looking for! It's a BUSS (BUS?) mixer, so it's got some special treats:
On the mixer side, you get 4 stereo channels, each with 4 inserts, 4 other stereo channels with a single insert, plus 4 AUX channels with 2 inserts each.
On the input side, you can connect 16 stereo channels, and route each one to each of the 4 Mixer Channels. So you can have all your inputs connected at the same time, and choose which ones to listen or to mute. It's that colorful little strip at the bottom of the pic.
Different setups can be selected via MIDI, too.
I believe this would allow you to do what you wish, and there are many other interesting features on these mixers, well worth a look.

Hey, 19b, I seem to have exactly the device you were asking for... It's called switch 8-all (ASIO/ADAT switcher), and does exactly what you need - plus you can have it in 16 and 24 channel varieties.
Take a look at the pics below - I can't remember where they're from, as I hadn't even used them, but they look suspiciously SpaceF-Blue. Anyway, If they turn out to be free, I don't mind sending them to you, as long as it's OK with the author. No idea about XTC compatiblity. there was an old module called "switch-it" that worked in XTC, though it was only mono, if I remember right...
Cheers,
T
edit: there are also 2 free switch modules from wolf (4x and 8x): http://wolf-audio.com/wad/freebies/Entr ... tches.html

the link:

is good! it has two devices that work.
The only problem is that they have 4 or 8 in and only 2 out.
I get along fine now with this device, but it still would be nice with a 2x8in and 2x8 out.
Anyone??
thanks!!!

You're welcome to try this one if you like, but it's not XTC tested, so you'll need to test that yourself....the19thbear wrote:i mean:

They are free, I made them for a request.
If someone mails them to me i can re-upload them to device section.
Nice potis shroomz !

It is just as usual with ShroomZ !!!
But the one you are including in your devices also have their own "touch".

thanks alot!
.. it's worth posting this in the devices forum!

That's great news! Glad it works for you in xtc mode. Thanks for the feedback.
