hi
I have a scope home and scope 6 dsp.
I have all the usb ports (4 ports) in the back of my pc occupied with bcf2000, mouse/keyboard, ext harddrive.
Then i have 2 ports on the front of my pc.
If i put anything in the front ports while running scope ( xtc mode or sfp mode) it crashes.
i checked for irq conflicts by running:
winmsd, resource conflicts ( i think that was the name..)
and i had no irq conflicts!?
motherboard:
ASUS M2N-MX SE PLUS
cpu:
AMD athlon 64x2 dual core processor.
thanks!

Re: scope crashing when i use usb
there's a difference between conflicts and sharing(do you have any sharing of irqs with either or both of the cards?).
do you have PS2 ports? if so, why don't you use them?
why not use a hub? also, there's this...

there are no conflicts, and no sharing.. and yes,.. i could by another keyboard and mouse, or get an adaptor plug.. good idea:)
and maybe a hub!
thanks!

Re: scope crashing when i use usb
Try putting the usb things that generate the most traffic (like the behringer) on a different USB port. if your using that hard drive while working in scope, try changing that around as well.
and do the http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25301 selective suspend registry edit.
if you get really desperate, you could disable all the motherboard USB and get a PCIe USB2 card, so it should only use IRQ of that slot.

thanks alot stardust and neutron!
I only use the harddrive for backup purposes.. and its not on very often.. so that shouldnt be a problem.i'll put the kboard/mouse in ps/2 ports for starters and see what that does..
thanks alot again!

Re: scope crashing when i use usb
i tried to do the regedit trick..
i'ms suosed to go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\USB
but on my pc there is only
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\
and then tons of directories.. but none of them say USB.. i have usbhub etc etc..
I attached a picture of winmsd/hardware res/conflicts
I use one sata dvd drive, the hard drives are IDE.
thanks!

Re: scope crashing when i use usb
and, by the way.. took out all usb things except keyboard/mouse.
no errors now, when i put in something in the front usb ports.
guess i'll have to buy a hub!..

Re: scope crashing when i use usb
on one of my older systems, Scope would crash if I plugged something into USB after Scope was already running.
So, I presume all your USB stuff is already plugged in before starting Scope.
And yes, depending on the motherboard, I used to reassign IRQ's, but over the past few years I haven't had to do that since I hardly use USB anymore.
The hub might help - but definitely turn off ports you're not using.
