For guys like me, who have no previous experience of vintage analog gear, this is a very handy link. I have never got the hang of vinco, but just by doing what they suggested (output to zero, attack to.01, set GR, set input to get the desired GR on the meter, set OUT level and adjust AD rate), I'm getting great results already. I guess I was wrong in the first step
Point I'm trying to make here is that if you have no knowledge of the original unit being emulated, it'll be harder to learn how to use the software. We don't know the Vinco is an emulation of the Urei 1176, but it is hinted in the GUI and type of controls, but again, you have to make that bridge, if you treat it like an ordinary compressor, it doesn't really work as it should. So this was really helpful!
it's a shame that, due to copyright reasons, developers can't clearly state the hardware they're trying to emulate... Guessing what clever puns they are making with the names and stuff if a tough game when you don't have the "culture".
