HELP!!! Pulsar II - Cubase - poor playback

Hey... I want to run 16 mono tracks smoothly through cubase via ASIO 2. Can anyone help me tweak my system? I am getting poor playback/sound quality.

PIII 1000
ASUS CUSL2-C
256MB (going to 512)
Pulsar II (propack)
SB Live Platinum
2x Seagate 7200RPM 20 HD

I Have tried both sessions in 24 and 16 bit... both play poorly. I have done all the optimising tips in the Pulsar manual.
Does anyone have any ideas??

I have a similar system. It should work fine. There are a lot of things you need to do to improve performance. I'm going to be using windows 98 Lite until they perfect the XP drivers.
