Scope plugin activation

Post by Cochise »

I'm getting problem with plugin activation.
This is not the first time I activate a plugin, but I forgot how things went in the past.

The 3rd part plugin (A-100) has no oxe. Following the instruction I copied the files in their Scope folders, then launched SFP and loaded the app.
At the activation window I pasted the plugin serial, but then there was no way to copy the transfer string in the clipboard and paste it in a notepad file. I had to manually type it.
Trying to withdraw, there was no way to close the activation window.

Does anyone has any idea about what's going wrong?

The A-100 is active now, and there has been no problem inserting the activation key.

As for the transfer string procedure: some day before I downloaded some nokey oxe files from the SC ftp server thinking they were related to demo versions. The first of them I tried to install started the activation procedure, but as far as I remember I was able to quit it having less problems, compared with the last activation.
-Added- I didn't try to copy the transfer string, though

Now I have some question about.
1) Might the problems with the activation procedure be related to that oxe installed but never activated?
2) How can I uninstall it?
3) What do those nokey oxe files are intended for?

to 'uninstall' just delete the respective file - the system does an automatic 'bookkeeping' at every start of Scope anyway

the nokeys files simply replace the original online procedure (if you remember...)
when you bought stuff from the online shop, it automatically generated the key(s) for your board (using your account data)
now you have to do one half of the process on your own
when the plugin is installed, on first run it generates the challenge key (called transfer string)
you send that to SC via email and the keymaster will generate the proper response key
that key is sent back to you via (surprise, surprise...) mail and you enter it into that mysterious field you already experienced... ;)

cheers, Tom

Thx Tom.

I'm in fear something is going wrong cause I made a mistake when I reinstalled SFP trying to fix the Module Apollo I/O error: while the installation was going on from the Scope CD, I started a copy task from the same CD content to a backup HDD partition. There was many files in the Scope folder having the 'hidden' attribute as a result ( :-? ), and I was getting errors cause of that. Overwriting them with the original version from the CD the attribute wasn't changed; so I uninstalled, deleted the Scope folder and reinstalled again.

This latest reinstallation was performed from the HDD copy of the SFP installation, but I had not replaced it after the mistake reported above. The installation went without errors and looks like there are no hidden files, but...
