PMC TB1's here too. I don't have the crazy dollah required for Bryston amps, I make do with a Hafler P3000, which is a really great amp for the money.
As for why - clarity and detail while sounding natural and transparent. The imaging and accuracy also seems really good to my ears. Interesting note: PMC speakers are also well-regarded by audiophiles who value transparency.

I'm running PMC TB2's for nearfields. Why? for all reasons mentioned before (TB1's), they are very very revealing, and I like how the frequency response remains consistent across the spectrum at all listening levels. E.g. you don't lose bass when you turn down but on the flipside there's no wow factor when you crank it. It's just consistent. I run them on a Brook Audio NS10AMP.

If you mean the sort of turquoise blue Reveals, then yes & to be realistic I don't need any better until I've got a suitably treated enviroment for justifying something of higher quality. we all made an agreement to ask before its getting loud after 1 am.I mixed the tunes on our myspace sites completly on ns 10 and on hps...i use sennheiser hd580 precision but since i have the adams they see almost 0 use.I was shocked by some tracks we did when listened first time on the p22....and not shocked in a good way that is.I somehow totally suck while mixing on hps....no idea why because a lot of people doing very good with hp mixes....maybe its just not for me. 
I got the System One 2.1 w/ 6'5's also.
My headphones suck major cock.
They were only 60 bucks though.
On the other hand the impressions I had made in silicone of my 2nd ear canal to use with the SonicBooms sound awesome w/ their 3 way drivers.
What shocked me is that I mixed with them and the first time I did was very similar to the mix I got with the System Ones.
I could never hear the bass properly in a headphone mix, hence the System Ones, but the wireless ear monitors's 3 way drivers prooved to be a decent mixing solution.
I am begging the X-Mrs.Scope4Live to buy the Blue Sky Big Blues for live 5.1 XITE-1 gigs. She's got the greens, so it should be a cinch.
I heard them at the ProAudio store ( warehouse ). They were only the 2.1's not the 5.1's but they sounded fantastic for a big ass nearfield monitor. 1000 watts of Sub, and 500 watts for the satellites.
I am broke, so she can spring for the speaks.

If you have the cash, the Quested range are very good. S7 + sub is fantastic. Non fatiguing, and accurate at low volume. You should be able to get by without the sub using the S8, but the sub is very good if you can afford it. Worth an audition.

KRK most probably slightly less accurate at the lowered price backet, but I could use them (V4's and V6's) for a full day without issue. I've read that a lot of people prefer the Klein and Hummel O 300D (£2600ish) over the equivalently priced Genelec's and Adams. If I could afford them I'd be very tempted to at least audition them. At the low end the Yamaha MSP 5's are pretty good for the money. Just my observations... I think the main thing is to audition if possible.

Quested's recent stuff disappointed me a little. I spent a lot of time with the F11 (also needs a sub for a room of any reasonable size), which was stunning, the high-end detail is incredible! But I didn't get the same feeling with the newer S-range.
Also have to agree that KRK makes some really decent speakers at low prices.
There is a trend recently towards 'intelligent' speakers that analyse the room environment and supposedly equalise it (for example, Focal monitors). Personally I'm very wary of this approach, and I don't see the point of paying big bucks for something so new and unproven.
