stm2448 problem

Post by winger »

I have 3 pulsar 1 cards in a system. I am using the 2449 mixer with 24 inputs coming from adat connections. All seems fine except some changes don't work. The project is using about 60% but if I change board id's for channels it changes but still not right. If I select 1-12 to board 1 and 13-24 as board 2 (all adat connections are on boards 1 and 2) i get only 1 channel that does not work. If I change them some combinations say I dont have enough dsp for the changes, others seem to work but I have more channels that don't work.

If i remove one of the pulsar 1 cards, all channels will work.

I have re-installed scope 4.0 but didn't help.

I am getting a Pulsar 2 soon and will replace board 1 with it. Will this help? Any one know why this happens?

Mark.

i don't know...
i used the 2448 mixer with a pulsar1+luna+pulsar SRB (4dsp) and never had problems.
now i have replaced the SRB with a scope SRB... :D so i dont remember my old settings...
maybe try to assign the mixer channels to the same board...

I got the new pulsar II card and installed it as board 1. Tried all kinds of configs and found one that works. Using the pulsar 1 borads adats, I put channels 1-16 on the the first pulsar 1 (board 2) and channels 17-24 on the second (board 3).. Then assigned 1-12 to borad 2 and 13-24 to board 3 and all works except.

Now I cannot get midi out from board 2 to work but in and out from 1 and 3 work and in on on board 2 works.

This is really flaky. Every time I reconfigure and manage to get what wasn''t to work, something else stops working. Arggggg.

Could I be hitting some pci or stdm limit that is not getting reported as an error?

do you really need to assign the mixer channels to different boards? what if you just engage the Phase Comp. (just below the dsp assignement) and let Scope do what it wants?

What does phase comp have to do with it.

I only started trying to assign the inputs because I was having troubles. Certain combinations would indicate I did not have enough dsp so I assumed I was on the right track. It seem odd I can run fine with 2 pulsar 1 cards but when I add a cardI start having trouble. With 8 dsp I run fine letting scope figure it out. With either 12 or 14 dsp, I have to manipulate these settings to get it to work.

Odd.

Not sure why this happens, but when I replaced 2 Pulsar 1's by a Scope card, Scope ran much smoother for me. Seems the Pulsar 1's were a bottle-neck, removing these old cards and using a full 2nd generation cards setup worked much smoother. Many errors I used to encounter on the Scope machine suddenly disappeared, some explainable by the extra STDM connections or by the sudden dsp overhead, others will likely remain a mistery...
