who runs things?

List of people who believe they own the world.
Noone has voted for these people (unless they are former - assigned- Presidents, etc.).

Why all the secrecy?

They design world policy (such as when/how to attack I-ran)

without having read the book - the excerpt above describes a specific situation in an absolutely correct and non-offensiv way.
It's meaning depends to a large degree on a bigger context, as humanity may either be read in the sence of 'group of (alll) people' or a 'friendly and forgiving attitude' or 'being human at all'.

cheers, Tom
it's worth a peek Gary, isn't it ? ;)
the problem (here) would be an original copy (assuming it was released in English...)

The phrase 'in searching for a new enemy to unite us..." IS offensive in and of itself, since it assumes 1) we NEED an enemy, and 2) that humanity is really it's own excuse for an enemy.

This is classic mind-fucking double-speak, and is redundant psycho-manipulative counter-productive clap-trap that has no basis in even EXISTING as a conversation, context, let alone setting up some top-secret secluded meeting somewhere (throughout history in one form or another).

It's ALL REDUNDANT - so why does it exist at all?

This IS offensive.

it says that they were searching for a trick to "unite" world opinion and they decided to use the THREAT of global warming and other environmental disaster.it says that the real target(the enemy) of the "war" that the united humanity will fight will be against humanity itself. that is offensive to me.

if you go to the club's own website, you'll see them describe themselves thusly:

"The Club of Rome’s mission is to act as a global catalyst of change"

if you check out the definition of "catalyst", you will find:
cat·a·lyst –noun
1. Chemistry. a substance that causes or accelerates a chemical reaction without itself being affected.
2. something that causes activity between two or more persons or forces without itself being affected.

when they speak of humanity and problems, they speak about what to do with YOU, not them, as a catalyst is not affected by the actions that it facilitates.

very tricky this public relations and doublethink....

Not that you are wrong saying that it is offensive.
But to whom is the offense directed ?

IMHO to a non existing responsibility of human species. Right ?

Or do you see it as an offense to name a disease and prophylactically kill the messenger.
The doublespeak is offensive. It's problem-reaction-solution. Create a 'problem', that creates a 'reaction' in people, for which only 'they' have a solution. It's the solution you have to watch out for (even more than simply naming humans as the 'disease', and definitely much more than simply killing the messenger. MUCH more deep-seated manipulative agenda going on here.

So how about some context? i mean, is that part of the book ment to tell what they actually did, or is it part of a bigger picture? i can atleast read it two ways:

1. They are summing up their work methods
2. They are putting Global Warming as an enemy, as part of a bigger metaphore. for example, they might say earlier in the book that what unites people most are wars. and to have a war you need two parts, "your side" and the enemy. But if you put Global warming as the enemy, and believe that global warming is man made, well hey, you are your own enemy.

So what is correct, context wise?

well, you can always read the book yourself. the language is very sneaky though, just like where they call themselves a "global catalyst of change". they're just a think tank, however. Bilderberg employs Club of Rome officially/unoficially to figure out ways to implement the group's priorities and strategies.

they only spoke of using the "threat" of global warming as a method to achieve their aims. it's always explained nicely, whatever they do, in a way that almost makes you think that you asked them to figure it all out for you.

it's easy to be confused by the lovely "noble" language. this is how people are convinced to accept things that aren't good for them in the name of things that are, through wording such as this. it is the "noble" religion, a sacred law that their intentions must be public. the Club of Rome makes it's proclamations every few years and laws are written and television shows, movies music and culture are produced, but there no direct relationship between the Club's writings and official actions. this group has no legislative power or authority beyond the fact that the club's members are heads of banking, education and diplomacy from all the worlds governments.

the way power can work efficiently without seeming to have a central source, where there appears to be true autonomous action between actors and yet IS directed from a central source is called "compartmentalization". it's the reason why government offices are often woefully inneffecient(the different departments are often ridiculously disconnected, no? i know it's not just in the USA).

What, no Australians in the list?

Our big hitters usually leave to wreak their havoc globally, a la Murdoch, i suppose.

Not to mention our lack of population & arable land....

well, you know who was sent there, and the so-called "aboriganals" aren't really interested, for the most part....

never fear, the good ole Club o' Rome has an Aussie associate member. from the club's website:

Mr. Karlson "Charlie" Hargroves Co-Founder and Director
The Natural Edge Project
c/o Griffith University, 170 Kessels Road, Nathan
4111 Queensland
Australia

:)

really, Rupert is an errand-boy.

yeah, that's why I'm interested - I love that language part... (unfortunately I have a small language difficulty to formulate my own interpretion of the 'book excerpt' above... maybe I'll try later)
the rest of the story is my very own conviction since decades, with or without Bilderbergs or the Club.
You frequently mentioned the shepherd analogy - what makes you so confident exactly that is not what (the majority of) people are looking for ?
ok, they'd never admit their own limited mental abilities... but they follow so passionate and easily...

cheers, Tom

Yes, a complicit, brain-washed public is how 'they' get their 'catalyst' going.
Slowly, incrementally, in a compartmentalized way, bit-by-bit, they slowly homogonize us into all being dumbed down sheep.

As long as we keep 'giving power away' to these guys, and their organizations, policies, corporations, etc., then they will just continue on...

SO, possibly the real question is - if they already control the money, population, and ultimately have endless power and reach, then why are they really doing all this evil?

Control of SOULS, possibly?

has there ever been a time where humans lived in harmony, not striving for power, posession and territory? are you saying this is something that is happening just right now? i allways thought humans were territorial like most other animals. its just the ways of enforcing it that is changing.

nature sucks.

yes, but these types of groups have been around a long time, and essentially capitalize on our animalistic tendencies.

no it doesn't suck.

what sucks is a centuries-old breeding program(the Rich and Powerful have arranged marraiges and only breed amongst each other for a reason) to create psychopaths(rulers who are thought to need to be ruthless, cruel, heatless, without mercy, without conscience) and then having these psychos manipulate nature.

the "when were people nice" thing is a bad arguement and empowerment of evil. first, people OFTEN live well together, YES, there are conflicts, but MOST people don't just want to lord over all others regardless of the suffering. MOST people are good, if mislead. the San people in south Africa(bushmen) are the genetic mothers and fathers of ALL mankind, proved through mitochondrial DNA and other evidence. until the fall of Aparthied, which ironically made it law that their culture was not to be disturbed(it's all over now), lived without strife. they knew nothing of war, except when bronze, iron or technological age man made war for their land. since the San people were completely comfortable on earth, they continued to move south and west until they came to a desert that nobody wanted(they started oceanside between Somalia and Ethiopia). there they live in their stone-age fashion without any grief for thousands and thousands of years. now they live in the city and only mock the old ways for tourists, but they are proof-positive that the elite system is NEW and not basic to our makeup.

people are herd creatures, they cooperate. this must be continually bred and conditioned out of us or used against us in a scientific way.

there's no reason for you to continually defend these reprobates, though. they really aren't doing anything for YOU.

sure, promises of assistance and ease and generations of conditioning will make people confused, weak, and unable to care for themselves. then, they will BEG for a savior. the problem was created over thousands of years and it likely won't be fixed in a night. there's nothing wrong with vising the truth though. none of this "bad" stuff is a necessity.
