Um, it's not that new, but for it's price, I think all of the Focusrite Platinum series are very decent.
I sell lots of them.

I think the whole Platinum range uses the same micpres, but have a different design related to powersupply and amplifier, which is very important imo.

From what I´ve heard... the Focusrite "Penta" has the better circuitry and should sound smoother, because it uses a FET design..

All the Platinums are FET, and most of them are mic pres, but they all have different strengths.
The Penta's strength is the preset compressor, which apparently has very good, useful presets which can save you a buttload of time in the studio.
