I've the same mainboard working since less than a month, but I haven't had that problem.
I'm quite sure it isn't OS related, however.
You should have a look at the BIOS settings, although any kind of wake up is disabled as default, if I remember right.
I have that problem with the Asus P5GDC. [ADDED] But it goes to re-boot at all [/ADDED]
It happens if there's an active ethernet connection (although any kind of wake up is disabled in the BIOS) and with some USB periferals....

Indeed the P5GDC is still working fine.
Just it bother. Hadn't been aware in time it was restarting, it happened I shut it down during XP startup....and the system was angry for that
Looks like even the BIOS can lose its settings by a forced shut down during a specific moment of the boot...

yeah, i disable all those boot up options first thing.
i hade the same thing happening!!!
it helped when i unplugged my usb keyboard, and plugged in a normal ps2 keyboard...
once i had stuff installed, and i put my usb stuff back in, there were no problems!

not helpful, if you have one of the new boards without ps/2. the famous DP35DP is one of these...

I'm working with wireless keyboard/mouse connected by a single USB plug, and there are no restart issues with the DP35DP. I've also tried LAN functionality and it's OK.
I noticed restart issues with the P5GDC having a USB pendrive connected to rear USB port, but looks like this happens with that specific pendrive only and not with different ones....

I just wanted to point out that the trick with "just use a ps/2 keyboard during install" would not work...
I expect a ps/2 keyboard connected with a ps/2 to usb adapter to cause the same trouble, if usb is the cause at all.
I for one intend to use one, since I cannot part with my heavyweight compaq keyboard. I'm so used to it, having a huge space key not being squeezed by some windows keys...
