Celmo's Bluwave + Pro Vintage Delay

Post by dawman »

I really hate the fidelity loss that occurs when leaving VDAT for an mp3 conversion. :(

But here's a great sounding synth / delay from Celmo I recently re-discovered, and plan on using for XITE-1.

In it's stock purchase it lacks the xtra polyphony, but Celmo gave me a version w/ 16 voice + polyphony that is a hungry DSP synth, but it's electric pianos are stunningly beautiful.

His wave Oscillator has many choices not available on the Waldorf Oscillators others have made for us.

This is actually very close to the Yamaha DX200 of yore.

Maybe someone can re-master this to make it sound better.

The quality of sound that VDAT offers prior to conversion is very noticable, and I shall use it w/ my live performances in XITE-1 when it's released.

Nice sounds. I tried the Blue Wave demo and liked it a lot, but I could not get the MIDI program change to work. I emailed Celmo a couple times, never heard back. It does sound very sweet though.

I've recently been experimenting with mixing down from VDAT to wav to MP3. Send me your tracks, or tell me where to download them and I'll take a shot at it.

Hey Jimmi, I've noticed that yours Mp3 are converted @ 128kBit/sec. You should try to make the conversions @ 192kBit/sec instead. :-)

Please explain how or what I should buy.

I use Goldwave for it's batch processing and it was free.

Hence the free sound.

I use an old version of CoolEdit, wich was not free. In that program I can choose the property of the compression when I save the track. Something like choosing the quality of a jpg image when you're going to save it.

Before cooledit I've used the original Fraunhofer converter wich was free (but a bit slow in that days). I don't know if they're distributing it anymore. http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/EN/

If you use a sequencer like Logic or Nuendo there should be a way to export the tracks loaded (watch the export tracks or mixdown menus) in MP3 format.

With a rapid internet search I've found that there's a lot of free MP3 converters, check these sites for example
http://www.mp3--converter.com/
http://c-dex.net/it/
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

I don't know the above programs,so I suggest to try them in another PC to be shure they works well before installing in you MegaRig :-)

Jimmy, Lima's just saying that you might try an mp3 with higher resolution. when you choose "export" and make the mp3, there are settings which allow you to choose the quality of the mp3(you set it to 128 the first time you used Goldwave). the bigger number=better sound but bigger file. you don't need to buy anything else. you have what you need.

I use SoundForge v9, and set to 256. For wmv, 192, which works out to about the same audio quality. Very, very close to a 16-bit CD.
