I got that mail, too, and had the hope there would be some more recent announcement.
did you see any change on their website? I did not.
so it's just dropping the news to customers who did not check the website for long or don't read PZ.

i think you are right!
this is imo the last chance for soniccore/creamware to do it the right way. I really hope they work smart and stick to a few products and make them good.
It just gives me chills(the bad kind) to know that they announced "soon" as in 6 months, and now may is not the release date.. and i get this email that "in a couple of weeks..." it just doesnt seem very professional to me. either you say " Work in progress" and keep people update on what you are doing or you simply dont say anything, and announce only when you release the thing.

this would be ok for some other companies, but not for a company that just went bankrupt and is going for a fresh start..

oh well... enough about that..

there was that announcement here on PZ from ralf that redesigning the box in order to fulfill some requests that came up here in the forum will delay the final delivery for a couple of weeks.

I would have expected that rescheduling the release would be announced on the website as well. just sending an email "it's just a few weeks" is almost no news.
if they only pretended there was progress, it would look much more promising...

It got delayed for a couple of weeks because people like me requested (demanded?) built-in Z-Link connectors. So blame me, not SC.

I do think they should update the web site and put the new specs and release date on there -- people who didn't get the email or read Ralf's post will be wondering what's going on.

hey just look to the games industry.

They announce a new game for a sheduled release date and then they move the date sometimes over two year.

One more month is just okay, if the do some further tweaking.

And I know that they also had a look on the bug thread and have confirmed from Ralf that they try to fix some of the bugs, at least what is possible in the time frame.

I`m pretty sure, we will be all gald if we are getting a better product at the end and have to wait a bit longer.

What for ?

Actually, one of the Xite PC-connexion is a PCI-e Board (for desktop PC), the other being Express-Card (for latop).

These are mostly just the link to the host. Having a seperate hardware unit to host the DSP also offer more flexibility to design new units with different features. The link should be the same PCI-E or express-card Board.

Yes I know the xite is PCIe. They need internal cards that are PCIe. The xite is great. I'm just saying I hope they don't drop the cards because the xite is too expensive for me. I would buy a Scope At Home if it had PCIe and the ability to work with previous cards.

the internal pci cards still use the same software. the internal pci cards still have quite a bit of life left.

I would think you get get better performance with PCIe though. That is all I am saying. The cards are great. I hope they continue to make them and develop them because I might get one. I will never buy an xite. I just got a PCIe graphics card for a year old computer someone gave me. It costs $35 and has HDTV out. True gamers laugh at it but this is amazing for me. A benefit is that it has no fan just a giant heat sync so I'm thinking it will be good for a DAW.

I think a downsized Xite-1 with less DSP power would probably be the more affordable solutions.
I guess the Xite-1 is build as a set of several DSP board. It has been said that the Xite has 18 DSP chips. Let us just imagine it is build as a mainboard with 6 DSP chips and 2 expansions ports for 6 DSP chips board (just speculating here).

Then they could offer a full range of Xite solution ranging from a basic 6 DSP units, to the full Xite-1 18 DSP unit and have an intermediate offer with a 12 DSP unit (just ranging roughly similar to the Home/Project/Professional range of Scope PCI board) without the need for hardware developpement.

A basic Xite(-3) with 6 DSP would provide 3 times the power of the Scope Professional board : i.e. the new "Home" solution = what can be achieved with the maximum configuration of nowadays (3 scope pro boards).

An intermediate Xite(-2) with 12 DSP would provide the equivalent DSP power of 6 Scope Pro: i.e. the new "Project" solution.

The almost there Xite-1 with its 18 DSP chips would then be the new Pro solution.

Then if PCI-e standard become obsolete they would "just" have to redesign the interface board to the new PC standard without the problem we had with the PCI to PCI-e PC standard evolution.

One could even imagine they could later design a firewire-based host interface...

A lot of what is included in the xite, many of us already have such as the rear connections. Why pay for something I don't need?

XITE-1 has 18 DSPs

this means 10 times 14 old-DSP's.

So XITE-1 is about 10 old Professional Systems sold for approx. 2800 Euro incl. VAT.
So just divided by 10 one "PRO-Sys" is only 280 Euro!!!!!

That's a big reduction in price!

I can't help but apprehending the crybabies who are going to say their cards are going to be worthless because the new DSPs are out...
My Pulsar 2's are not going to stop working just like my Logic 5.5.1 after Apple bought Emagic... The card is only worth something if you USE it! Right?

I am just eager to see the new look of Scope 5
