More Freeware

Post by MCCY »

I just discovered scribus, a nice DTP - program. I'm allways astonished how much excellent freeware there is out there. Let's start a list...

- I've heard of developers for a so called scope-platform MCCY & shroomz for example, they make fantastic freeware...

O.K. let's be serious:
- firefox (net)
- wavosaur, audacity, ... (wav-editor etc.)
- mp3directcut (cutting mp3s)
- blender (3d)
- gimp (foto)
- scribus (dtp)
- open office (office)
- VDub (video, for me xspecially trickfilm)
- artrage (nice painting for children & grown up)
...

O.K. there is so endlessly much more. We could focus on the big ones ...

PHP
Linux
MySLQ
Apache
Python
Perl
Wordpress (with over 4,000 free 3rd party plugins)
Ruby on Rails

These are *the* important free software that rock!

Firefox is good but Internet Explorer 7 is perfectly fine.

If you are a webmaster / developer..
You could also add Eclipse / Netbeans / Java / Spring / Glassfish and could continue for hours.

But for "normal" users, Open Office or Gimp are certainly more rockin' than LAMP or Ruby :D

Visual Analyser by Sillanumsoft is a really good measurement tool.

Paint.net has less features than Gimp, but runs faster & is nicer to use for simple tasks.

PSpad is a nice text editor.
