I tried using cpuidle (cpuidle.de) and it gave me lots of errors complaining about the STDM connections between my pulsars not being connected. Of course after pluging my carsd in & out a few times, I finally twigged it was that new cpuidle program i installed!
Anyone got any idea why it would do this? I tracked it down to when the "CPU optimisations" are enabled in cpuidle. Shame it doesnt work with Pulsar, it reduced the temp on my Athlon by about 10 degrees.
Cheers,
Menno

I'm sorry to tell you I have no direct answer to your question, but I've been coping with heat-problems as well. (not on Athlon but on P4/1.7).
My cpu/mobo temperatures were 58/49 C under load. Solved it by mounting a Swiftech cpu-cooler (/w arctic silver) and by optimizing air-flow in the case: one 12cm Sunon fan (at 7V) as intake in the side-panel (just above the cpu). one 9cm Sunon fan (at 7V) as outlet in to rear top of my cabinet, and 2 lownoise 8cm Papst fans as outlet in the lower front. Temps are now 43/32 degrees Celsius.
Al fans are mounted in rubber grommets, minimizing vibrations. The big fans run at lower voltage to low noise while maintaining enough air-flow.
Maybe this helps you just a little bit.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the info. I've already gone that route, with a Zalman flower cooler and cutting holes in my case for some fans from quietpc.com. It' just that using CPU idle I get another 10 degrees off the cpu temperature, so if I can get it working with Pulsar it would be great.
Cheers,
Menno
