i guess these dummies who think transhumanism is something that will help them will get what they deserve. no reason to write any more books or movies warning about the dangers, there've been plenty already.

@garyb *nod*

perhaps all of this is related to the end of our scope cards, and the emerging of the Xite Empire....

you think so huh?

then why are they working on "singularity"?

you're just some biological storage space, some extra processing power, a battery in the Matrix.

transhumanism is stronger than ever . it's part of Eugenics, a name which comes from the greek, "good origins", the good genes, the God-man, the ubermensch.
the World Wildlife fund and Planned Parenthood are also eugenics operations...

"mad???!!! they said i was mad at the academy! well i'll show them! when they see my work, they'll have to admit that i'm a genius!" [oops, the academy just approved the research and gave a grant. dr' frankestein was right after all... ]

these things are dead to YOU, but they are quite real to the people doing the actual research and work....

btw-what makes you think LSD failed? it worked just like a charm....

LSD? Um, what was its intended purpose? From my point of view, it was a failed attempt to 'control' people by the army (they did experiments with it), and became a popular recreational drug (still is, I suppose, but not anywheres near as popular). Some people took it and had realizations of external realities they had never been encouraged to think of themselves (sometimes this is good, sometimes not), more people just took it and were mixed up for periods of time, and I'm sure a lot of people were damaged by it because their biological systems couldn't handle metabolizing it. Most of the people who took it, as far as I can see, recovered just fine and prefer sobriety (and seem no more likely to accept the drivel their TV gives them than people who have never tried LSD, for instance). I've taken it (20 years ago) and while it was interesting as far as understanding the different states of consciousness and ways the brain works, it was ultimately overhyped. It was not fun enough to warrant 7 days recovery.

As far as cyborg / transhuman / AI is concerned, I have yet to see a computer algorithm described that is truly AI, yet have been hearing about the dangers of them since I can remember. All a computer can do is provide 50 million answers. Any person theoretically can ask answer 50 million and one. All a drug (or low frequency soundwave) can accomplish is amplify things that are already in the brain. They can't put things in the brain, they can only try to manipulate.

use more imagination.
LSD was about ushering in the aquarian age. :) what that means to you and to those who made sure that it was glamorous and available might be different.

as to the AI issues, the word is SINGULARITY. when everyone is chipped and part of the network, then you'll understand, if you know who you are still.....

just keep telling yourself, it's just a dream. what year IS it, really?

True. And a lot of things have seemed just beyond reach, but soon possible with the latest technology (which may be science in general, machinery, subliminal messages and psychiatry of the subconscious, mind-altering drugs, computers) - things like peace and plenty for all, or alternately, an insidious way to control the masses. And none of them have come to pass because humans have a way of surmounting these stupidities (so far).

All I can say is, I work a fair bit with different types of programming, from device drivers to business intelligence, and am not aware of any AI that really resembles human intelligence. Because we call data storage MEMORY, people jump too quickly to assume that it really resembles human memory. Of course, in some ways, it imitates what we are able to understand and conceptualize about 'our memories' (through refinement of thinking and development of concepts). Studying of human psychology may indeed yield a predictive program - which may be unable to predict the actions of a 6 year old. The idea that at some point a 'vast consciousness' is going to just spring into existence is absurd to me. But I could be wrong. If I'm wrong, I'll buy you a coffee, OK? (Even in the gravest of situations I still have a taste for black humor, and black coffee).

"just keep telling yourself, it's just a dream."
I don't have to, there's a catchy song that reminds me of that.

Peace!

AI does not have to model human intelligence at all to become self aware or even useful.

still, the AI itself isn't the biggest problem. a bigger problem is "the link", which is well within the realm of current tech. scientists were remote controlling chickens in the early '50s via implanted electrodes.

did you listen to the Huxley(founding member of Tavistock) speech?

So how can anybody manage to link the following 2 words together?

well, if they're authorities and that's what we think of them, there may be a problem....obviously, the authority isn't genuine....oops, logic...

Intelligence is a property ? Elaborate.

Intelligence is at the "building blocks" of existence.
